Mostly caused by some last minute changes you're bound to make after we started plating the job. After all, any file with "final" in the name is never final, is it?

It surprises me how often we bid a job with to the exact specifications of the customer, only to lose it to someone who bid it cheaper by not following the specs. In one case on a subsequent future bidding, I mentioned the fact that they hadn't followed the specs the previous year to which she responded "Oh that's fine, you can just bid it like they printed it".

Not even “final, final”. I’ve always tried to get clients to use dating (D/M/Y) instead (with initials to identify the doc creator). E.g. “ThrillageVillageFlyer_16.03.18_gp” Themost recent dated version is taken as the “final” while the initials identify who to blame.

And I know all the confusion this obvious error creates, especially the 12 first days of the month!!!


It's like using the "." for the "," and the "," to separate the groups of 3 digits in the numbers... what a mess!


Or using "billion" (short scale) instead of "milliard" (long scale)... just have a look at this Wiki links, and imagine the huge errors it can create when people read a large estimate/bill not using the same scale:

I've always dated my files. Now about estimates being accurate, it would be helpful if the requested actual made specific requests. Instead, you get "glossy paper". 80lb? 100lb?

Yup, there's an ISO for that: ISO_8601 - Date and time values are ordered from the largest to smallest unit of time: year, month day.
I use it the other way around DMY because the Day and Month are more critical to see quickly with on going projects than the year.
