Onyx 22 question

Seeking Knowledge

Well-known member
Hello all,

We use Onyx 22 for our Dye-sub printer. We have a Media/Profile that we like how the color prints, but it is set to the slowest print mode. I did a search and it seems we can clone the media/profile and change the settings for faster output speeds. Are there any pitfalls or tiger traps we should look for?

Thanks in advance,
SK

Speeding up the printer will normally change colour - you should really reprofile for accuracy if you do that.

In the Thrive Media Manager you can simply add anther print mode for the media profile you're using. ie: you can have 1 media profile with a 4 pass mode and 6 pass mode (or whatever). GENERALLY, the colour won't change a lot if you're just changing the pass rate but you can create individual icc profiles for every print mode. Just make a faster print mode and run some QA prints from the Thrive samples folder. If the colour doesn't match between print modes then profile the new print mode and you'll be fine.

Hello Print Planet Forum Folks,

I have a problem with my White_Ink profile. Profile seems to have got'n corrupt. Anyone out there know how to build a White_Ink profile from scratch. Our rip is "Onyx Production House 22.0.2.1092". We are sending a PDF that is 4CP+100% White_Ink. The White_ink is set to overprint in Illustrator. These are all vector artwork files so nothing going on with transparency or layering (very simple file). The Inkjet press we are sending it to is a "Vutek 32H LED". Could the issue be with the Vutek?

Thanks for any help,
Tim
