Versant 80 toner always reads full. How?

So I purchased a Versant 80 off a shop last year. He had mentioned something about a tech doing something to toner reads but I didn’t catch it. Basically what it does is the machine and fiery always show 100% for the toners but it still gives a “change X cartridge soon” and then will stop when empty. Doesn’t matter if the cartridge is new or been refilled 20 times. I just got a 180 and would obviously like to be able to do this as well. Does anyone have any idea what settings were changed on the 80 to accomplish this and how I could do it on the 180?

Find Drum unit with the manufacturing date April to July 18 year 2019 and put it into your machine.
