Nutritional Label FDA 2016 format question

We are a packaging converter with clients who need to update their nutritional panels to follow the 2016 FDA format. Searching the FDA site I can only find the panel artwork in a "portrait" format. We have many packages where the previous label was done as a "landscape" format to better fit on...

Printing LEN files to a Kodak Approval

Thanks top all who replied. We found that "embedding' the LEN files in the PackEdge file, via the Links Pallete, solved the problem. This is a new issue brought about by something in the Automation Engine 12.1 upgrade. This workflow was fine under AE 10.1.1: no need to embed.

Printing LEN files to a Kodak Approval

As we are avid users of Samba dots we like to use LEN files to proof our work on the Approval, rather than just printing over the PackEdge file via a Ticket. The LEN file approach skips any DGC on the way to the Kodak and therefore the Samba dots are displayed very accurately on the Kodak. This...

    Slowwwww Trapping

I tried "ignore bitmaps" and things that previously trapped didn't. Unfortunately with files so large/complex I can't be Sherlock Holmes looking for things my trap ticket decided not to do!

    Slowwwww Trapping

We have PowerTrapper. Speed is not normally an issue on modest jobs but has become "erratic" with complex jobs. I am working on a series of Pet Food bags (in other words, LARGE!) with sophisticated graphics, lots of images with close crop clipping paths. Quite surprisingly trapping can take 4...

    Slowwwww Trapping

I hadn't thought of Bootcamp. We have had such success with Parallels on more modest jobs! Please advise what I need to do to a) get Bootcamp; B) operate Windows under Bootcamp

Thanks, Kevin i will give "ignore bitmaps" a try today.

    Slowwwww Trapping

Since upgrading to AE12.1 our trapping of complex files has slowed to an absolute crawl. Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour? Sometimes in PackEdge 12 the trap will work, but you are then not able to 'reverse' a trap if necessary. We run the ESKO apps via Parallels on a Mac tower 2.93...

We get this message on saving our AI files...

Can anyone help us sort out a problem we are having? Screen Grab is not attaching...message is: "This file has been modified outside of Illustrator Do you want to continue?" Since upgrading to OS 10.7.5 we are encountering the attached message each time we save our AI files (CS4 and CS5). We...

Beachball in AI CS4 (Mac bogging down on file save)

I think I have an explanation. I was leaving additional images in a hidden "Do Not Use" layer. When I delete these hidden images the file saves just fine. Some how the images being hidden (i.e. the 'eyeball' icon in the layers palette set to 'hide'.) seems to send AI for a loop! Thanks to all...

Beachball in AI CS4 (Mac bogging down on file save)

Tried the Bridge idea. No improvement, though, Spotlight is off. No iCloud or Time machine. File storage is on a PC based server. Crazy thing is I have 12 of these files, all virtually identical except for 1 image each. Most open and save normally, but 3 are this crazy slow. I have opened the...

Beachball in AI CS4 (Mac bogging down on file save)

Images are in the 40-50mb range, saved as psd. All are CMYK. PDF option in save dialog is 'off'. We select 'compression' as only save option. I am doing packaging work. The file began to give a problem in one of the flavours. I persevered through the delays. When it was done I saved as the file...

I did trash the preferences. No improvement. (Man, I HATE trashing the preferences...it is amazing all the work it is to get things back to scratch!)
