    Help gatering makeready data, please

I run a 40 inch Heidelberg CD 102 w/prepress interface...We usually get 100 sheets per color for MR and the standard run waste figures. We also get approx. 300 addn'l sheets for customer ok. After ink up I just run 50 for register only but if needed rough color adjustments and damps. Next, 100...

    Dot gain / TVI variation...

All things being equal or same ...start looking at the ink train chiller (settings and performance) and the cooling of the fountain solution.

    silver chalking

I agree. It helps seal the silver ink. You will also like the improved transfer in the roller train. For years I have been generally using 3 ounces gloss varnish to each pound of 877. :)

Heidelberg XL105 - Slow Down Wheels

All 3 items of advice can be used to do what it takes to reduce the marking. If this is a new XL 105, those green belts the machine came with... you might not get same replacement. The grey ones we use, I find don't last very long...maybe 3-4 months at best. We/I are looking for an alternative...

couple of units on my press just refuse to washup

Albert, Check to see if your solvent is water miscible. That could be the problem. Most wash cycles alternate solvent/water/solvent/water etc.. if so, try to change the cycle to deliver solvent only for the first 80% of cycle then finish with the water. On my Heidelberg we had just that issue...

    Load Turners Jogger/Aerators

We use a load turner called Toppy. It's been in our shop for a bout 4 years now and we won't part with it. The hydraulic motor went out on it a while back and it was hell until fixed and YES productivity dropped. Plus the pressman assisted it the off loading of the paper instead of looking at...

    HELP!! CD 102 Double Image

I agree with Brett 100% Try printing one color on the unit in question with the rest on impression. run some paper and vary the speed of the press. pull sheets while doing this. it will only take about 500 sheets to do this. You will probably see less doubling at lower press speeds and will...

Spot UV Coating on the Aqeuous Tower - can it register?

Drake, With respect to raised coating again, how important are new blades on the chamber with a high volume roller( I think I know the answer) and what type do you use. We have both metal from Tresu and some plastic blades that seem to deliver more of whatever type of coating your using. By the...

Spot UV Coating on the Aqeuous Tower - can it register?

Thanks Drake, I believe your 105 has a 1 to 2 ratio all the way through correct? Do you notice any every other sheet differences with the cyrel's? Also on our 102 CD I am packing at bearer high with the Cyrel plate using paper underlay sheets (.080") and the Cyrel is at .046" equalling .126. Is...

Spot UV Coating on the Aqeuous Tower - can it register?

Drake... have you worked with raised uv coatings on a cyrel much and how best to correct excessive build up of coating at tail edge or knock out of image. Would increasing the packing amount help? In a recent experience there was no lattitude between the pressure to get a uniform image and...
