    Cutter / Slitter / Creaser

Rainman23, So you found the 745 worth the extra money over the 645? From what I can tell it's quite a bit more expensive. Is it a lot faster than the 645? On average how many 12 x 18 sheets per minute?

    Cutter / Slitter / Creaser

Does anybody have the duplo integrated fold system? A 746 with that looks awesome. We are currently doing 45,000 pieces on an 80lb cover that we are creasing, cutting and folding separately. It's really making me want one of these.

What would you charge for this job?

My price wasn't taking the weekend into account. We would probably have to charge double for the spiral binding trying to get enough people to work to get it down on our manual spiral equipment. It would still be tight. If it was saddle stitched or perfect bound we would probably just bump it...

What would you charge for this job?

$5384. We would digital print it which would be no problem but we only have manual equipment for spiral binding so we wouldn't offer that time frame. We would offer them saddle stitching for $2685 or even perfect binding for $3052. Spiral is just too time consuming. This is for normal turn...

    Cutter / Slitter / Creaser

what kind of volume are people putting through the duplo? Seems like it would be great for low quantity jobs but would you do jobs of 10,000 - 20,000 postcards? Seems like it would take forever and it's not like you can load a huge pile in and have it cut the whole thing. We can usually cut a...

    Cutter won't cut long sheets

Dull blade. We used to have a challenge 20. If the blade would start to get dull we would have problems with uncoated sheets if we cut them in the long direction. If it would get real dull we would only be able to get through about a half in stack of uncoated in the long direction. Even with a...

93% of online responses are driven by direct mail

Does anyone actually have the report from the USPS where they state that 93% of online responses are driven by direct mail. It would be a great piece to show customers to promote direct mail.

    Exciting!

We have a profile for each stock Normally our temp/humidity is pretty stable but since we've got the machine it's been moving. The weather here has been bouncing between 15 and 60 day to day so some days we need heat and some days ac. 98% digital cut sheet Most paper is on the floor between...

    Exciting!

How often do you have to run your alignment profiles? We've had a 2100 for a few weeks. We are finding we have to run them daily to keep registration on. Also how good is your registration? We are finding up to about 1mm difference sheet to sheet throughout a run. We've had Ricoh's in the past...

Fusion Pro Users - Break job into multiple files?

Why would you need to impose it in fusion pro? Why not do it at the rip? If it's a job format you do often it's as simple as setting up a hot folder with print and imposition settings, dropping the file in, and watching it print.

Requests For Proposal - Good? Bad?

That doesn't work because they want nothing to do with seeing or talking to you. You'll never make it past the receptionist.

Requests For Proposal - Good? Bad?

I agree. I hate RFQ's. The worst part is when you have a suggestion that would give them a better product at a lower cost they don't even want to hear it.

    Questions about a Cutter

I've seen the toner on the blade. Try changing the blade more often so it stays sharp.

Shopping for service on a new press

Thanks for the comments. I understand that it's different in every area as well as talking with them and asking for commitments. But does anyone have any better way to actually evaluate them before buying a machine from them. BS from the sales guys means almost nothing. Service guarantees with...

Shopping for service on a new press

So we are shopping for a new press. Looking at all the big guys: Xerox, Konica, Ricoh, Canon, Kodak. I feel like I can do a fairly good job comparing and testing the equipment to determine what best fits us. The problem is service. We all know that the service you get on your machine plays as...

New Install - Ricoh Pro C7110SX

We are looking at a 9110. We are also coming from a 901. How do you like yours? Is it a much better machine? Anything to watch out for or anything really greatly improved?

    Mailings and Postage

I'll second the recommendation accuzip. There is quite a learning curve for bulk mail and the post office provides no help.
