    Raster or Vector PDF proofing

Vector is better looking and smaller files. But if a customer decides to open it with XYZ pdf viewer it may not look right if XYZ doesn't support transparency and later PDF content. And even sometimes they won't be looking at what will actually print even if they use Adobe Acrobat Reader and...

What's Driving Mac vs. PC Purchasing Today?

Hence why I said to buy name brand like Dell. And Microsoft is no stranger to an update causing major issues. Neither is better than the other. You can have problems with any computer you buy. I have 3 PC's running Windows 10 and 1 iMac at home. I prefer the Mac UI as to me, on the same size...

What's Driving Mac vs. PC Purchasing Today?

Ha. There are plenty of pieces of Win 10 hardware on the market with poorly written drivers.

What's Driving Mac vs. PC Purchasing Today?

I personally believe Macs are a little more trouble free because the hardware is locked into the Mac. Anyone can build a PC with many different types of hardware that haven't been tested with other hardware in a specific machine. If I were going to use a PC I would make sure to use a vendor like...

New look of Print Planet forums with little logos or whatever to the side...

XenForo (Printplanet current software) is the cadillac of forum software these days. vBulletin (Printplanet previous software) has went downhill over the years. I love the new software.

    Content Awareness with Pitstop?

The add bleed action will extend the image if more image is present in the PDF. Otherwise it mirrors it.

    PageMaker PMD to PDF

Newer versions of InDesign won't. Dov mentioned above that CS6 will.

Any word on that Pitstop Pro (Catalina) installer?

Off topic abc but there was an update to Acrobat a while back with the dark theme that makes the Pistop windows almost unreadable if you are using the Acrobat dark theme and the Mojave dark theme.

Why would a printer not want to receive a layered PDF?

The versioning jobs we get are almost always a mess because customers don't want to do it the right way. They usually send in full PDF's that contain the base version and one version of changes. Then another with the base version and one version of another change. Unfortunately the base content...

Why would a printer not want to receive a layered PDF?

It could be language versions or just price change versions.

    Transparency problem

But only if your Fiery has APPE. Ours does not.

Why would a printer not want to receive a layered PDF?

On the flip side if I had a publication that needed to be printed and you insisted on a 1.3 PDF I would find another printer. On the original topic it can be problematic getting a layered PDF if you don't have software to deal with it. We use Prinergy and there is a licensing option for Layered...

Why would a printer not want to receive a layered PDF?

Some people just don't like change. I still have people that insist on sending me version 1.3 PDF's because it worked well 15 years ago.

    US health insurance unaffordable?

The wayback machine...in 1981 when we had our son I paid nothing for health insurance. The premium was fully paid by my employer. It had $100 deductible. The entire cost to us was $100. I have no idea how much insurance paid but I'm sure it wasn't close to $50K.

    US health insurance unaffordable?

One thing the US healthcare does for you is it limits you wanting to go to a doctor unless you are mortally wounded/ill. Even then it is cheaper to just die. And if you do die your healthcare provider will thank you. You know how much U.S. politicians pay for healthcare? $0. $0 deductible too...

    US health insurance unaffordable?

My insurance is ciovered by my employer but I have to pay 100% for my wife's coverage. That costs me about $15,300 per year. And that plan has a $5,000 deductible per person. So yeah, that, or worse, is really what goes on with healthcare in the US.

Rip from Adobe suite or the CTP rip?

Are you sure there isn't a stroke applied because the colors do not match up for what a trap would be? It would be easier to verify if you could post an actual PDF instead of a screenshot.

    Preps 8 - Marks problem

The only way I see this is if you have Preps preference "Use sheet marks" unchecked.
