anyone has some experience editing icc profiles

Your only option for free would be the SampleICC source code from the ICC. That allows you to convert from the binary ICC format to an XML representation. Yo ucan then edit the XML version and convert it back. Of course, this assumes intimacy with the ICC format and color.

    ID-designated PDF artbox?

The ArtBox serves no useful purpose - don't even bother with it.

    ID-designated PDF artbox?

The page size is fixed for any given page, and the boxes will be used in different ways. The CropBox will cause the viewer (and printer) to only draw what is inside the Crop - so if you have bleed & trim outside of crop, then you'd lose all the stuff out there. You'd need to have Crop outside...

How does Adobe figure out the multiply value?

All of the math for the various blend modes are specified in the PDF standard (ISO 32000-1:2008). Also remember that in the case of rendering spot colors on screen (where no actual inks exist), the alternate colorspace (either CMYK or Lab) has to be used. That includes simple rendering as well...

PDF presets conflict Photoshop & Acrobat

JobOptions/Preset files contain two distinct sections - public/common and private/specific. Most of the settings are common to all applications that use them. However, where an application has a different model or extra features from others, those settings go into the private area and you only...

    Acrobat changing colors unexpectedly

Replace Pages does what the name implies - it takes the page CONTENT from one page and drops it in place of another. Should work just fine. One alternative is to Insert Pages (on the new page) and then Delete Pages (on the old one). It's a bit more "brute force" than Replace but sometimes...

    Acrobat changing colors unexpectedly

That's what happens when you are the Adobe's PDF Architect :). Happy to help, just need to know one thing... What do you mean by "that page is added to a PDF"? Are you using Adobe Acrobat to insert a page from one document into another? Are you using Adobe Acrobat to overlay one page on top...

Overprint Preview in Acrobat not Working

The problem with always is that it will take longer to render (and distort) the rendering of PDFs that do NOT have overprint - such as those that come from MSOffice documents. That's why the default of "Complies with PDF/X", since you know that PDF/X documents are destined for printing and OP...

    Acrobat changing colors unexpectedly

I am not sure what you mean by "Acrobat will not render spot colors". Acrobat doesn't know about actual inks - so when it encounters a "named colorant" in a PDF (known internally as a Separation Colorspace), it falls back to the Alternate Color (provided in the PDF). But we always render the...

Why does my PDF get the error: "Form has no blending color space" ?

    Yes, those are the ones!

Why does my PDF get the error: "Form has no blending color space" ?

Just to be pedantic - the Flattener needs to convert everything IN A GIVEN GROUP into the same colorspace before it can merge. There may be a single group for an entire page, or there may be MANY groups - it's up to the authoring tool (and/or the author). The alert is bogus. The user choose a...

Why does my PDF get the error: "Form has no blending color space" ?

That is true. HOWEVER, since one is not required by the PDF standard (ISO 32000-1:2008) NOR any of the PDF/X standards, there are provisions for how a conforming reader would select one when none is explicitly provided. That is FALSE! The blending colorspace can be ANY VALID PDF colorspace...

Why does my PDF get the error: "Form has no blending color space" ?

What profile in PitStop are you using? A PDF is NOT required to have an explicitly defined blending space, so in the general case, the PitStop error is incorrect. However, perhaps you've chosen a profile where someone has (for unknown reasons) decided that they require such a construct...

Error in PAT.joboptions: /CheckCompliance out of range

I have NO IDEA what the "PAT" job option file is - however that error means that the JobOptions is trying to set the standard to one not supported by that version of Distiller. CS3 would be Acrobat 8, which is no longer supported - so I can't help you beyond that. Contact the person (Pat?)...

Copy Pitstop Paths to Adobe Illustrator or Indesign

Another option would be to use the Edit Object (or Touchup Object) tool in Acrobat itself. Select the object/paths in question and then either double-click to edit directly in Illustrator or right/ctrl-click to get the menu of available options (incl. editing).

Overprint Preview in Acrobat not Working

RIght - that's OLD SCHOOL PDF export and is basically equivalent to PDF/X-1a BUT without all the benefits of compliance to a known standard. The modern option would be to simply use the PDF/X-4 setting.

Overprint Preview in Acrobat not Working

If you assign an object an explicit source profile, then YES (of course!) we use that profile! This is true for ANY PDF, because that's what the standard says. If you create a PDF/X (or PDF/A or PDF/E) compliant file and assign an OutputIntent Profile, then YES (of course) we use that profile...

Spot color conversion Indesign vs Acrobat Pro

And in some cases, we use a LAB alternate instead of a CMYK alternate. FWIW: These alternates come from the swatches themselves (eg. from the Pantone provided data set) - Adobe doesn't make them up. Correct. Additionally, by the time Acrobat gets the PDF, there isn't anything for it to do...

Spot color conversion Indesign vs Acrobat Pro

What option(s) are you using in the InDesign export dialog that you think does this?? I can not find any such control NOR do I believe that INDD has such an option. Can you please tell us EXACTLY what steps you take to achieve this? Also, please post the INDD and PDF files that demonstrate...
