    Physical Storage of Dies

By job number sounds pretty bulletproof. They may have different physical sizes to accomodate, but a large, medium and small bin or rack to use, sorted by job number should work...

    Konika Minolta black print out

This may not be simple; Calibrate before going any further. In the drivers color options, toggle Black Detection, although I doubt it will solve the issue. You did not mention what file type you are working from. Check your blacks in Acrobat or InDesign - I'm betting you have rgb or cmyk...

Konica Minolta 6000 resources and/or tips

A great machine, all things considered - quality vs budget, durability & support. There have been more than a couple of threads where people do not get the same level of service from particular vendors. We feel fortunate to have bought directly from a vendor who is now KM. I have peers whose...

Plating fine strokes, Vert & Horz - LPI Degrees, Frequency

Gordo's discussion in the Predicting/Preventing Moire thread, #8, gave me enough PS tools to simulate the angles and resulting dots. In that I could simulate the objectionable patterns at zero and 45 degrees, and with some advice from Adobe ID forum, 22.5 and 30 degrees at 150lpi look to be an...

Plating fine strokes, Vert & Horz - LPI Degrees, Frequency

0 angle sure messed it up, there is a more pronounced pattern... Lucas ? ! Ponder, the rule frequency is at .1114in, I might need a lpi at a consistant repeat...

Plating fine strokes, Vert & Horz - LPI Degrees, Frequency

Will try that route I read about 1/2 of the moire thread, was looking forward to some spot on techie advice, Gordo must be a real hoot at parties...the guy's a walking encyclopedia reference set...

Plating fine strokes, Vert & Horz - LPI Degrees, Frequency

Whilst I ponder wasting some plates - I could use some techy help. A 3x5 pocket card, for sketching, is composed of a graph, off the press, the lines appear uneven. I had a 50/50 chance this would happen. I set strokes, .5pt, 20% tint (black) Stepped at .10487 inch (near as I can tell. To...

    Rapline Processor Scratching Media

Shamefully, I'll admit it...I may go months without cleaning my Rapline 17 processor. We process 5 mil poly plate material. I have noticed, after cleaning with warm water & processor cleaner over the years, that scratches could be seen after cleaning. Depending on the press they went to, the...

Indesign data merge vs Fiery VDP?

InDesign's Data Merge is a useful feature, but pales in comparison to a true Variable Data package. Chances are, if you have no VD software, you could increase InDesign's performance by utilizing the Fiery Rip's "Print Master" feature. Basically, your Process and hold your InDesign static...

    Registration on a Ryobi 3302

Other points - The bottom feed wheel, which the upper feed wheel comes down upon to forward the sheet. Place your finger (carefully, but it's common practice) on each seperate rubber area and inch, jog, or 1000 iph run the machine and evaluate their roundness. At perhaps, 10 million machine...

    General print question

I cannot believe I'm going to be the first to say this but, Pantone Solid is NOT what you want to creating from. I have here, in my hand, a Pantone Solid to Process book. You would cringe at some of the conversions. I'm gonna stop right here and edit. Pantone Process is expected to be...

agfa star 600 + accuset 1500 plus setup

Vlad can get you up & running - strongly consider sending him a private message or reply to his post, it will be a worthwhile investment. I speak from experience running 4cp from an Accuset; if I'd invested one dollar for the hours I spent researching, pondering calibration, negotiating network...

agfa star 600 + accuset 1500 plus setup

I expect Vlad will chime in on this, but, do you have a Mac available for the network? I push output to an Accuset 1000 plus without any RIP and have not been able to circumvent Appletalk yet. What exactly is the ripper 600, a separate device or internal to the 1500? btw, have you loaded the...

Simple question for my simple mind.....

Marks answer is simple, safe, least prone to problems. It ensures that your not changing the source file, only improving your end product visually. Get in the habit of using a new layer for your "edits". Illustrator can open pdf's, but you will triple your time, with some occsaional unnoticed...

    Roller Wash Up Blade

Bunk. OK, depending on which roller(s) you're applying the wash-up to, there may be value to that. If you apply wash to the roller in contact to the blade, or near "upstream" to it...that has merit. I apply wash to the top roller in the machine. Do a test...time how long it takes to wash both ways.

    Roller Wash Up Blade

I keep that blade engaged, can't imagine a need to lift it until the rollers run clean and dry. (You will get mess if you stop the machine with it engaged however.) And a new blade is probably worth the cost of all that solvent that gets used with an old one.
