KM bizhub PRESS C6000 vs. Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9075 or 9076 PRO

I can't agree more, the Canon Image Runner Advance 9065 Pro is a total nightmare. I can't say more as there are legal ramifications now (sad but true). Sort of Ok on lighter stock but wildly inconsistent when running anything over 80lb Cover.

    Pitstop Upgrade

I'm currently running Acrobat 9.4.3 and Pitstop 8 Update 5 in a preflight CTP environment. I generally use Prinergy to tell me what is wrong with my client supplied PDF's so I mainly use Pitstop to fix things. Enfocus has sent me an email asking me to upgrade to Pitstop 10 for $299 USD. Has...

    PDF for Printer

Rob, from prepress operators everywhere, thank you for asking! So many new designers completely ignore printer requirements and then wonder why the print job doesn't come out they way they thought it would. Keep asking questions and your print suppliers will come to love working with you.

Minimum line weight in offset printing

I know this isn't a good reply to the actual question but I'd be tempted to make the lines a spot colour and just go to the expense of another plate and make the job 4 + 1PMS. The pressmen would thank you and the final product would probably look better. My 2 cents. Jackie

PDF wont go into PREPS after page replacement

Previous post Previous post There was another link that I think dealt with this in a previous post. Bit of a newbie to the forum so I'm not sure how to relink you to the actual post but if you throw the title into the search box it will come up. Acrobat Pro 9 and Preps problem Hopfully this...

    Color Training for Entire Workflow/Business

I can only go by my own experience. We are set up as a G7 shop but I'm not pushing any particular standard, you have to decide what your shop is aiming for. As for us we had a couple of qualified guys from our local vendor come in to set us up as a G7 Certified shop. One was an expert on the...

SAVE PAPER - Please do not print this e-mail unless necessary

To right Oxburger, Walmart is definitely part of the evil empire. Just don't get me started on on all this ecological sustainability thing when the paper that a lot of offices are using is coming from Indonesia and Asia. How can transporting this stuff thousands of miles be environmentally...

    Canadian Printers

Hi there, my company is based in a suburb of Vancouver, Burnaby, BC based on the WestCoast. We can do digital and Offset but I can't think of a Vendor that has both those options and Screenprinting as well. Maybe there's someone out there who can prove me wrong. Be interested to find out.

    Best Prepress Workflow

Totally agree Stephen, what is good for offset might not be optimal for Web or Flexo. We're all coming from our own personal experience. The trick is to take everything with a grain of salt and form your own conclusions. At least this forum lets us throw our own opinions around and hopefully...

    Kodak Prinergy

I'm currently a Prinergy user and I think the workflow is great. Every shop has it's own needs though and you really have to go over all the features to make sure that you are going to get exactly what you want. There is almost too much functionality at times and I'm always finding new ways to...

    New plate size for Prinergy/Preps

Hi Roger, might need a little more info about your system if we're going to help you. Do you have a Prinergy front end, either Evo or Connect? How do you send your final layout to your CTP device?

    Digital Decision

I have to put my 2 cents in on the Canon 9065 (slightly slower version of the 9075). So far I've been disappointed by the colour consistency and I've had several other issues with colour registration and colour shift within runs. Interface is overly complicated for no reason at all. Performance...

    New plate size for Prinergy/Preps

I'd have to agree with James and you should make the switch to imposing to paper size. Much less mental math required ; - ) Then your output templates are press specific rather than doing your layback+grip calculations in Preps.

    Best Prepress Workflow

I'm with Prinergy Connect 5.1.2 and I think it's a great workflow with lots of room for expansion depending on what you are looking to do (digital storefront, automated workflow, ect.). But I will have to agree that Kodak has lost the plot as far as service and support go. The people are great...

64 Bit Adobe Creative Suite really faster?

I was wondering if anyone who has updated to CS5 on their Mac with Snow Leopard has noticed that Illustrator, InDesign or Acrobat is running significantly faster? All the stuff on the web about faster Benchmarks are for Photoshop and After Effects. Very memory intensive programs. For us lowly...

Print to PDF Driver that embeds fonts for MS Word

I've had many a problem with clients printing from Microsoft software. I've found a good free driver on the internet, it's called CutePDF. I haven't had any problems with files created with this driver, I can't say it will always work in every scenario but so far so good with embedded fonts...

    4/c process color bars

15-20 percent plate gain seems bizarre from a CTP device, something is definitely wrong with how it is set up. I'm guessing you are running your ink densities low to compensate for the huge gain on the plates, that is probably why you are having ink fluctuations and a flat image as it's throwing...
