    Anyone using Pantone Extended Gamut?

We have 3 Indigo presses in 3 different plants using the Esko DFE. I have attached a PDF file that compares all the PMS in both 7 and 4 colors and their Esko predicted dE values to the Pantone library. Based on a tolerance between the dE of 4 and 7 color PMS separations we would print 521 colors...

    Negative PDF

A bit confused as we create negative plates without any problems in Prinergy. Maybe I am missing something, but can you not create a varnish plate with the correct knockouts and then select Negative Print in the Device tab of your Prinergy JTP when processing.

Plate Contracts and how many years should they be?

Our contracts have been for two years, with a clause that will allow us to break the contract without penalty if we find a product that is better during our contract period.

    Customer Recognition

Back when I started in this industry as a delivery driver for a photo engraving shop (1981) there was a label printer that had this sign in the back of his shop where customers were not allow to go: All customers make me happy, Some by coming, Some by going

    Stand Alone Trapping Software

So I take it that the trapping in InDesign is not robust for your trapping needs? It reminds me of Trapwise, an extinct program that I used ages ago to trap most of our flexo files.

    Stand Alone Trapping Software

In InDesign CS6 and a few earlier versions, when you print your trapped file, in the output tab select PostScript File as Printer; In-Rip Separations in Color; and, Application Built-In in Trapping. After saving the file distill in Distiller and you will have a composite PDF file with traps.

HP Upgrade From 6600 to 6800 - Color shift

After upgrading to the 6800 we have a color shift on jobs that were previously ran before the upgrade. We realize that the 6600 used a densitometer set to status G and the 6800 uses a spectro set to status T during calibration. However we feel that color after upgrade ought not be different then...

Acrobat Preflight Submitted - Anyone From Adobe Out There?

Dov, thanks from me too for your response. I guess for now I can make two PDF files, one from native application to preflight for transparency, and one through Distiller to preflight for stroked type. A bit of a hassle, but definitely a first world problem.

Acrobat Preflight Submitted - Anyone From Adobe Out There?

Disappointed that I did not get a response for Adobe "people" as to how to create a PDF that in preflight with show stroked type as type and honor transparency. As per Stephen Marsh's info, I can make a PDF via Distiller that will show stroked type as type, but then transparency lost. Or I can...

Can You Please Test – Colour or Mono Click?

I tested these through 3 different strategies on our HP 6800 that uses an Esko "light" DFE. The DFE by default strips the file of any attached profile and then assigns the profile in the Color Strategy. The 3 strategies I used were a 7 color strategy that forces all images to be in CMYK but...

Acrobat Preflight Submitted - Anyone From Adobe Out There?

Continuation of my previous Preflight Thread - Once again thanks to Stephen for discovering that stroked type will only trigger if PDF was made via Distiller, not via Adobe products. Fine, however a PS or EPS distilled loses transparency, another item I would like to be caught in Preflight...

Please tell me how to install a generic postscript Printer Description File for MacOS

I have attached a .zip file full of older Afga PPD's. Drag them all, or which ever ones applyto your specific Agfa device, into your Computer>Library>Printers>PPDs>Contents>Resources. Under Printers & Scanners in your system preferences make a new printer pointed to your device and select the...

    Question about spot colors...

In regards to number of spot colors that will be converted in a 7 color strategy, at least on an Indigo using the Esko DFE, the most can be 27. I belief that this is a limit imposed by the Adobe RIP that is being used. Additionally the Esko DFE does not have the capability to turn RGB images...

Acrobat Pro DC Preflight Identifying Multiple Color Filled / Stroked Type

Stephen - looks like you hit the nail on the head by using Distiller, as now I can identify stroked type to be seen as type and not be seen as each letter as a individual graphic. I can also identify stroked only text, stroked and filled type and filled only type as having more that one color. I...

Acrobat Pro DC Preflight Identifying Multiple Color Filled / Stroked Type

Your explanation of how Acrobat renders stroked type makes sense when I look at a preflight check I made to select “Graphic state properties for stroke - Stroke is non-zero on more than one plate”, the check identifies each stroked letter as a separate graphic element. The challenge with this is...

Acrobat Pro DC Preflight Identifying Multiple Color Filled / Stroked Type
