Illustrator CC free transform doesn't snap to objects or guides

Did anyone else notice this? I looked through all my preferences but can't find anything different. I assume my removing the snap from that tool they are truly making it "free"? Any insight folks? Thanks!

ESKO Users - Do not upgrade to OSX Mavericks

Yes...that's one reason I haven't upgraded. There was no productive benefit...the only real reason I would have now is compatibility with future products and simply to not fall completely behind, lol.

ESKO Users - Do not upgrade to OSX Mavericks

I am a few versions behind, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I agree with you on the possible mess when upgrading after falling too far behind, but Snow Leopard is still supported and we actually use a program that requires Rosetta. I'll probably go to Mountain Lion soon...it's supposedly a...

ESKO Users - Do not upgrade to OSX Mavericks

Thanks for the tip. I'm still running Snow Leopard...never really saw the need to upgrade. There hasn't been anything earth shattering on a production level and Snow Leopard has been so stable. I'm sure I will have to at some point but I usually stay one step behind and avoid headaches.

I apologize if this is a bit off the point, but how did you create the virtual machine?

    Need Workflow (Packedge) suggestion..

I've been in digital prepress for 25 yrs and worked on the first proprietary systems and moved along with the transition to Mac/PC platforms. I've used Packedge, ArtPro, Neo, Deskpack and I've come to the conclusion that with there's nothing I can't do in Illustrator for building a...

    Need Workflow (Packedge) suggestion..

If you're comfortable with the Esko products, you can simply move to Illustrator with Deskpack...that's what we use...it's not cheap, but it works just fine. You can pick and chose which offerings you want to license. We use Powertrapper and Dynamic Barcodes mostly, plus BoostX to aid in...

Defining and embedding screen angles in a PDF

Thanks...that's what I'm looking for. As I said, I can use the Esko Ink Manager to set the angles, but the downside is having to save a flattened, normalized PDF to hold the angles. Does the Heidelberg force you to save a flattened PDF?

Defining and embedding screen angles in a PDF

IDK...you can do it with a PS...you're figure by now you could do it with a PDF.

Defining and embedding screen angles in a PDF

Right...the decision is being made in Illustrator, but then going to postscript. What's the point in having a PDF native RIP and being able to stay with PDF throughout the workflow if you can't have the same control as a PS RIP. The Harlequin screening set up is fine, but again, you would have...

    Acrobat CC

I'd never flame you for this opinion. I hate change for the sake of change. These are production tools, and for people in the printing industry to re-learn an interface every time they feel like creating an update is a waste of time. I wish they had made different versions of their products...

Defining and embedding screen angles in a PDF

Can't really set it at the RIP when you're not consistently using the same spot colors, ex. corporate colors. We can actually use Esko's Ink Manager within Illustrator but the downfall is that you must save as a normalized PDF which is flattened...I'd rather not do that. But, yes, we change...

Defining and embedding screen angles in a PDF

How is everyone defining screen angles going to a PDF RIP. I am using Navigator 8 but still create postscript and define the angles in the print dialogue of Illustrator. I would like to be able to define my angles to be maintained in the PDF and simply drop the PDF to a hotfolder.

Accurate Ink Jet CAD plotter suggestions?

Frustrating, isn't it? I'm interested in Epson's offering in the T series. The one sample print I had done was close to my imagesetter, but not exact. Curious...what sold you on the Canon?

    Suggestions for plotter negatives?

I'm not sure what your budget is, but check out this link: Screen Printing Film and Flexo Printing Film - OYO Thermal Film for Screen Printers I have a similar issue with attempting to run die lines on clear substrate using our Epsons. I cannot get a truly accurate sizing and the output varies...

RIP software with accurate Spot color simulation strategy

But this is what would naturally occur because of the stock white being darker than a GRACol white...are you trying to fake the spot colors to maintain their brightness?
