    Heidelberg versus Komori ?

If money is no object, why did you leave KBA out of the discussion ? BTW, I recently had a customer tell me there is two things he considers when buying a press : How reliable it is, and How much it costs. Every printer has different criteria.

    Saphira Experiences - Happy Bundles?

D Ink man, You reference the fact that " everyhthng works together due to individual expertise ", How can you assume that Sapphira ( Heidelberg ) has not employed ( contracted ) people with these individual expertise. You are wrong, Litho is not different, it is a manufacturing process just...

    Ink/water emulsification

Correct if I am wrong, but isn't there a procedure for testing ink/water compatability, putting ink into a cup filled with fountain solution, mixing it or not mixing it, seeing if it serperates etc. I thought I read somewhere on this forum regarding something along these lines. I know this test...

    Positive Ink Feed Simulation Test

Eric, Yes, when I speak of the ductor, I talk about the roller that transfers ink from the fountain or well to the roller train, ( the one that moves back and forth, hence the term, " duct " ). And yes with this particular press the " Off " position means it no longer ducts, but remains in...

    Positive Ink Feed Simulation Test

In the name of Science, I will perform this test in the most controlled environment possible. I have been running a press for a number of years, but I can't honestly say that I have tried to flood the train with the ductor off. I am very anxious to see the results. As far as the comments...

    Inline densitometry

I was just curious. what is the Heidelberg equivalent of the Komori A.I. technology. And as far as the Komori system being far less user friendly, I am going to go ahead and go out on a limb here and guess you just came off a Heidy, because I had the same feeling about Heidelberg, when I went...

    Blanket Packing

I completely agree, everyone gets wrapped up in factory specs. (Which, I frimly believe in). But when It comes to blanket to bearer heighth, its not where you start, its where you end up. Start .002" to .003" over bearer and fall down to 0 - .001" over bearer. Otherwise it is very difficult to...

    8 Color - 4 over 4 Press? Any Opinions

With conventional inks ?, and if so what would be the average jacket life for these perfectors. Also isn't a dedicated perfector the same as non-flip style ?

    8 Color - 4 over 4 Press? Any Opinions

Perfecting double sided coating ? Perfecting double sided coating ? One can still run this press as a straight press I.E., 8-color job with coating on one side, conversely you can perfect 4 over 4 without coating on either side. There is inherent problem with the process (perfecting coating...

    Inline densitometry

How does it keep from overcorrecting itself during the makeready period, especially due to outside influences, other than ink key vs. image area rate ?

    Inline densitometry

I was wondering if anyone is using Heidelberg's " Inpress ", or KBA's version of self-correcting inline densitometric control. How is it working ? , do you like it or not ? , Is it worth the money, etc. etc. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you

    Who teaches the teachers?

I think everyone is getting way off topic here, I thought this thread was defining " Who teaches the teachers ", It seems like whenever there is a chance to inject " Positive ink feed " into the conversation, Mr. Nikkanen and his cohort Mr. Ferrari try to push their concept on everyone, Although...

    Komori damp chromes sensitive

Sounds like a response from a non-Komori user with a very closed mind, I hope you never have to apply for a job other than the current place you are employed, In my experience, an attitude of not willing to expand your horizons, doesn't bode well with most employers. Good Luck.

    Who teaches the teachers?

I would like to start off by saying that I don't know why Cal Poly or any other form of higher education in Graphic Communications is being attacked. I'm sure they are doing an outstanding job, and I bet we could all learn a thing or two from some of their courses. I am personally from the...

    8 Color - 4 over 4 Press? Any Opinions

Yes, you are correct printing, coating and perfecting inline is possible, but you forgot to mention the little caveat about success being only guaranteed with U.V., Conventional printers that choose to go this route, beware.

    Komori ink fountains

printers needed printers needed Canadian Printer, Very well put, some people forget that Komori and other press manufacturers are not printers. They rely on their customers to be the printers ,unfortunately some of the afforementioned " customers " do not fit the bill.

    Komori ink fountains

That's funny I don't have any of these problems with my Komori, what are YOU doing wrong. Since all press manufacturers have oscillating ink forms then everyone must be having plate sensitivity problems, if this is truly the case, which I believe it is not. As far as back tracking to the...

    8 Color - 4 over 4 Press? Any Opinions

In my opinion, the Komori LS P is the most efficient perfector, I ran a 10 40 LS P for a year and a half right after coming off a Heidelberg classic perfector. Some of the highlights are : Fully automated changeover, Physic driven upswing at delivery ( No marking ), venturi air cushion at...

Application of water (fountain solution) into the press

Apparently all of the printing press manufacturers have it wrong, it is amazing to think how we are able to print at all with the predominant existing design.
