    The Constant

David, people who think they are cool and cutting edge use QR codes and I'm not one of them. I think you kinda said it, if Apple makes a not very good product but they are immensly profitable, I'd say advertising is working quite well these days.

    The Constant

I thought this augmented reality stuff was the next savior of printing (preceded by QR codes)?

    Switching to Windows from Mac...advice??

I have both Mac and PC at my shop and Linux (Ubuntu and Lubuntu) at home (it's not that bad Mr. Milisock:)). We are slowly transitioning to PC because I'm just tired of paying Apple prices. I also love the fact that I can upgrade and modify a PC quickly and easily. Sure, Macs may breakdown less...

    Mailings and Postage

As Kansasquaker stated, the Intelligent Mail (IM) barcode is just a font and the postage paid stamp (indicia) is what you can create in Illustrator based on the guidelines in the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM). Just Google it. It's huge but has all you need to know according to the USPS. Some of the...

    Fusion Pro-sequential numbering

Just use Excel (it will auto populate when you start typing in a string of sequential numbers. It's how I used to number raffle tickets. LOL!). Here is a TXT file of what I would use to do what you need to do in FusionPro. (I'm not very good with coding.) I can't remember off the top of my...

    Blueprints Pricing

You can also just call the competition from your cell phone. Don't use our technical language, it's a dead give-away so make sure you use layman's terms and maybe even try sounding a little dumb. ;) Anyway, that's how I arrived at my pricing. I don't like printing them and the only reason I do...

Most Interesting VDP Design or Application

Well, I don't know if this is the coolest VDP application but a couple of months ago we did some table cards/place holders for a wedding. It had a Las Vegas theme so they wanted playing cards. The suit represented the table 'number' and the back of the card had the name of the guest. What was...

What do you mean? Are you being sarcastic?

Who was the Greatest Person in History of Printing?

I'm wondering what 'spurious' means. Never heard it before so I'm going to look it up...

Finally a viable alternative to PhotoShop?

That's cool. I thought about trying their vector software, Affinity Designer.

    Unsubscribing

Keep it up emailers, you are only making the case for traditional direct mail even stronger.

    Big US holiday coming...

Considering that Gordo publishes a humorous comic strip that we all enjoy, I assume his post was for laughter and entertainment. Or, it was revenge for all those Canadian jokes everyone hits him with (myself excluded). Let's keep in mind that the intent of Youtube and television is...

    Are toners lightfast?

That should help a lot. I'm no automotive engineer burt I believe auto glass stops certain UV rays. I try wearing my sunglasses with transition lenses while driving and they do not darken up. If they are already dark, they go clear.

    What are your shops limitations?

I have five things on my wishlist: Roll laminator, foil fusing, die cutting, tabber (wafer seals), and envelope inserter. I know how to milk my machines for all they're worth- I use my C75 for addressing, envelope printing, bumper stickers, jar labels, tags, plastic ID cards, pocket folders...

    Are toners lightfast?

How many are you doing? Anytime longevity is a concern, I laminate. It fixes a lot of problems.

Plumber Door Hanger Design and Printed

Ha! Ha! Thanks for posting it, now I'm gonna steal it!!! (Just kidding.) But seriously, I like it and any one of my customers would love it.

    Quality Standards

When a customer has that complaint, it's actually because they are frustrated at their lack of financial ability to pay for your ultra-super-duper-premium-scented-3D-quality printing.

    Are toners lightfast?

No. I do trash can labels and bumper stickers on my Xerox C75 and they will last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years depending upon how much sunlight hits them, general weather conditions and at what point the user feels they need to be replaced. What color are they? Reds fade the...

    Xerox, Konica, Ricoh

A few years ago I got a quote to move a Xerox DC252 with high cap feeder down the street with one step at the removal sight and a flat surface and a garage door at the installation sight. I think it was around $500.00. That was a long time ago so you have to adjust.... They said I could...
