    Light weight sheetfed stock

We have a couple jobs coming up that will be on 35 # or 40 # uncoated stock. I have not seen these stocks run sheet fed before. Place mats and maps that I have run previously have been web. Any suggestions or areas of concern other than the obvious paper handling/feeder trauma Thanks

    Tresu modular coating unit

Sounds like your loyal to H-berg. Have the technicians ever mentioned a modification for that transfer unit. You could put the older style star wheel configuration off that unit like a S line machine.

    Press Comparisons

If you are going to test in a Demo room do not supply the file prior to the test. Make them react as you would in a production environment. Heidelberg had some problems on their SM with the file I supplied. Walk in with the disk. Watch the adjustments they make, and how the machine reacts...

    GFI MX6 ink mixing machine

Do you mix in house now? I miss the service from the ink rep. I upload and make custom colors in house now and it is time consuming. The money you save on ink you spend on labor in some cases.

    Gas Ghosting

I just spent 2 days with the Technical Director of Vanson. We talked about Gas Ghosting he never mentioned that varnish. Can you put an AQ on it. Even roller train AQ's will hide the ghost then dry trap the varnish to the AQ. We ran this way 10 years ago on some difficult pieces.

    GFI Mixer

2 months in. Database-mixes are good but we struggle with workflow issues. A dedicated operator on the machine would help. Color tipping for custom colors takes a little practice.

    KBA Planeta Opinions

92, 1992 ? Back then I worked in a Pressroom next to a KBA but not on that machine. The KBA had a lot of feeding issues. We ran light weight stock on a board press. Built to last but not pressman friendly.

GFI ink mixer and Pantone "tweaked" recipe names per stock

We do not have too many color tweaks(yet). Right now, I have some colors marked PMS 123 & PMS 123 A. Saving the adjusted color formula then trying the new color as a standard. Happy mixing

    Testing New Presses

I will be testing some new printing equipment with the major manufactures. Any suggestions on how to evaluate apples to apples. The day to day work we run will not cause any press manufactures trouble. Thanks in advance

GFI ink mixer and Pantone "tweaked" recipe names per stock

Are you running a spectro device? The GFI we are running does not have one and color matches can be very time consuming. I send wet samples in for an ingredient break down then load the results in the GFI. It seems to difficult to have more than one GFI operator. Color Matches & Inventory etc.

    Toyo Kaleido Inks

We tested only on Gloss 100# Book. We do not run hexachrome so it is hard to compare this ink series to normal process ink. You would have to run 4 color images against hexachrome images to compare the two color gamuts. Nothing that could be presented to the sales force.
