Xerox 1000i Trail Edge Bleed (blurry print)

That's odd as I thought they were hardware wise the same machine. We had our local tech/colour superstar in this morning running off a bunch of tests (Dot 200, Line 200 and various settings on and off) to send to Japan. Are you able to upload a few snaps of what you're getting? I just had my...

Xerox 1000i Trail Edge Bleed (blurry print)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a play around. That could help us identify where it's going wrong but unfortunately not a long term solution as we're adjusting the transfer rate for most stocks to get nice solids.

Xerox 1000i Trail Edge Bleed (blurry print)

Interestingly when our Versant was installed I immediately noticed it (and disliked the Versant) as we still had our 800. Now we've got the 1000i the Versant looks far superior. Yeah would love to see someone with an iGen 150 upload a sample.

    Xerox 1000i input

That doesn't seem right to be. Having had an 800 the quality is noticeably worse. I've created another thread for this issue - see http://printplanet.com/forums/digital-printing-discussion/35639-xerox-1000i-trail-edge-bleed-blurry-print#post223275

Xerox 1000i Trail Edge Bleed (blurry print)

We're on our second 1000i (first was replaced as colour was very inconsistent and eventually corrupted system boards) but are still not happy with output in particular what Xerox are calling trail edge bleed. For example text with a 80/60% tint appear to come across as a gradient on the trail...

    Xerox 1000i input

That's what Xerox are calling the trail edge bleed. I believe Fuji Xerox NZ are currently trying to prove that it's an issue to Japan. It's essentially made our 1000i unusable and most work is being run out a Versant where it's not quite as bad.

    Xerox 1000i input

We're on our second 1000i (first was replaced as colour was very inconsistent and eventually corrupted system boards) but are still not happy with output in particular what Xerox are calling trail edge bleed. We cannot seem to get a sharp edge on the prints. For example text with a 50% tint of...

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

Wow, that's expensive. In New Zealand we pay NZD$250 which looks to be USD190ish for clear. We've just found out Gold and Silver are NZD$450 so will be complaining to Xerox about that.

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

Here's a shot of a quick invite we whipped up to show a client this morning. It's a nice metallic Gold which would replace foiling for cost conscious customers however there will still be plenty of designs that "need" foil.

Here's a shot of our C1000i in place with the Versant in the distance.

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

That's a very cosy spot. Will grab a pic of ours on Monday. We've got an issue with the gold being recognised by the Fiery but hopefully a quick fix.

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

We ended up getting Xerox to take away the 8000. The prints we were getting weren't saleable in our market and parts were getting very tricky to find. I know what you mean about the last few years. 2014 was pretty good for us and 2015 is looking great so far. Fingers crossed!!

Xerox Colour 1000i - Gold, Silver and Clear

Hi Fletcher, I've been told we've just got to change the dev housing and toner cartridge then run a tool on the PC UI which will update NVM's. Not sure about the drop tubes but 2 technicians today said the change would be very simple. Here's hoping! Install was nearly completed today but...

Xerox Colour 1000i - Gold, Silver and Clear

Being installed today is our Xerox Colour 1000i with Gold initially. The launch event was last night and they had some pretty impressive samples along with a press wrapped in gold. Upon speaking with technicians it looks like we might be trained up to make the switch between Gold, Silver and...

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

I've never used a 5000 but we did have an 8000 which I assume is similar. In terms of print quality we saw a huge improvement in the 800 from the 700 and 8000. The solids are generally good and you've got the clear toner to flood over if it needs it. The registration on the 800 is great. Easy...

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

Very strange that Xerox would limit it like that especially seeing as customers are complaining about gloss. I think 80%+ of the machines in NZ have been converted to matte toner.

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

A whole bunch of customers in New Zealand complained about the gloss of the 800/1000 when it was first released as most were coming from 700's which had a very flat print. We ordered ours quite late and got a matte toner upgrade around 3 months after install. The difference was huge. Do they not...

    Versant verse Xerox 800/1000

Hey Si, Sounds like it could be my 800 which you're looking at as we've purchased the 1000i with gold ink arriving in March. At the moment we're running the 800 and a Versant. Both very different outputs but both have the advantages. The Fiery RIP on the Versant is phenomenally fast compared...

    New Presses Ordered

That's interesting. Our rep (Greg) will do anything for us. If we have a fault and techs are taking too long we'll call him to start hounding them from the inside. Bringing stock is crap considering you already lost your stock plus clicks in the first place. That's the reason we're replacing...
