    Speaking behind Pantone's back

That's the point! IMHO calling "a color" using some "Pantone's name" nowadays is more caotic than usefull - better call it using it's values. Just like you don't say "my house is [random name] feet tall" but you rather say "it's 25 feet high".

    Speaking behind Pantone's back

Just yesterday a customer complained because he asked us to print the Pantone xyz C: our press-man did it, but the paper was not the same as the colorguide, so the result was not what the customer expected. (I was not involved before, otherwise I would have seen this bitch coming!). Until a few...

    revive old i1Pro

I've found the solution: https://www.xrite.com/service-support/i1share_does_not_see_i1_on_windows_64_bit_systems i1Share 1.4 will not work with 64-bit systems because the included EyeOne.dll file has not been updated for 64-bit support. This is why the Eye-One device will not be recognized on...

Ok!! i1Diagnostic says the i1Pro works well - but still I cannot use i1share: it doesn't seem to detect the device. Any help on this?

    revive old i1Pro

Hello there, I've inherited an old i1Pro device and now I'm trying to revive it. I've already installed i1share_v1.4 on a Win7 PC and now I'm trying to link it but the right driver seems missing. The auto-update driver feat doesn't work (it IS old!) Maybe should I link it to an older WinXP? Any...

    Which dot shape?

    Which dot shape?

(just a poll) Which dot shape to prefer in offset printing? ...and why? Somebody told me Euclidean, some other said Round, etc. (this image is just an example)

How to Pantone on colored papers?

Hi there, I'd like to ask you about your working methods... I have clients that come here asking to print some XYZ Pantone on yellowish, or blueish, or grayish papers (not the white one used in the color guides)... Maybe the Pantone they ask for is "C" and the colored paper is kind of "U" too...

    TVI curves from print sample

Here is what I've done to get what I wanted... A first print-run using no TVI curves, measuring only 100% patches, using eXact eXrite "best match" feature to print as close as possible to the target, then I've measured screened patches, made custom TVI curves for every ink, made a second-run...

    TVI curves from print sample

Talking about the 100% color patches we are supposed to print tailor-made inks so my thought was to reach the LAB values for those and then measuring TVI on screened patches. I understand this could seem a weird procedure, but here we are - and here I am only with a file and a printed proof...

    TVI curves from print sample

Since the colorbar is screened I thought to measure TVI values on it and to use these values to make tailored TVI curves - one for every ink. So... 1. printing the same colorbar using my printing machines. 2. measuring the colorbar to make TVI curves. 3. applying new curves and print the job.

    TVI curves from print sample

We print offset, the proof should be digital printed on the same paper we are using and it simulates screens (maybe GMG).

    TVI curves from print sample

Hello there!! A client gave us his file and his printed proof. The design is built on 6 custom inks (or spot colours) - see image. They are not the usual CMYK. Luckily both print and file have the same color bar - 100-80-40-20%. The goal is to print 6 plates to let our pressman do the job...
