    $SheetWidth variable text mark

Hi Our Production Department would like to add the sheet width to our layouts. In Preps there is a variable text mark $SheetWidth that can be used to automatically indicate the numerical width of the sheet. This works fine when doing an all Preps workflow but we only use Preps to create...

Image cross over on single page pdfs

I had no problem creating a properly centered pdf, both exporting or saving postscript and distilling, from both Quark and InDesign. I had to turn of the the bleed marks in InDesign. Quark was fine. In InDesign the trim bounding box was created properly and would work with our imposition system...

    Relin/Recalibration

Our proofers are more stable than our older web press but our new web press is just as stable. We stay on top of monitoring our proofers using a proofer check to confirm ink densities and a reference check to compare (using Lab values) a previously saved reference. We re calibrate every 6...

    Apogee & PDF

Non imbedded fonts don't usually cause the Apogee RIP/server to crash, normally just won't process the pdf file. There are a couple of things to attempt, you could load the font to Apogee - PC fonts have to be loaded from PC Client, Mac Fonts have to be loaded from a Mac Client. Not sure why...

    Pre Press vs. Press salaries

Re: Pre Press vs. Press salaries I've been in prepress for 30 years and have a college degree in Graphic Arts, Print Production. It's the best of both worlds when you have education and experience. Head pressmen here make more than prepress people but we are on par with second pressmen and...

    What does CIP4 stand for?
