Apogee Prepress Versioning, anyone using it?

Hi we just upgraded to Apogee Prepress (Apogee 5).

I've figured out the basics for the plate versioning but wonder if anyone was using the elements or PDF layers?
 
Yes, I use it.
Tricky to get a grasp of. And you should only have the layers you need in the layered PDF.
It is possible to mix layered and non layered PDFs, but find that rerendering is unstable and usually it is better to duplicate the job to make changes rather than edit it.
