    Task Management software

Another vote for Trello here. It has been improved a lot over the last year or two that we've been using it. We have the paid-for Business subscription, but the free version did nearly everything we want and certainly allowed us to do a good evaluation.

    Color 1 side... grayscale back...

I agree with the previous replies about crop marks (the usual suspects) and colour profiles, but the sure-fire way of having black clicks is to use the Mixed Media function on the CWS Media tab to define pages 2-7 as greyscale. It doesn't then matter what artwork is on those pages as they will...

Can konica 1100 PRO black printer do mix media? and how?

When you define page exceptions, you can enter lists of page numbers, so red paper could be assigned to 2,5,8,11,14... It's fairly laborious to set up if there is a long list, but you can then save the configuration to use on other jobs. I'm not sure if there is a limit on definitions; we...

    SREVICE CODE C-4661 onKM C1085

C-4661 is "Main body: Color registration correction abnormality (Y)" My guess is that your colour registration sensors need cleaning or are faulty.

    Digital Printer Recommendations

The availability of used KM C8000s at "bargain" prices should set alarm bells ringing. So many of these machines have been swapped out by KM, because they were finding the costs of supporting them to be too high. We were made an "offer we couldn't refuse" just over 12 months ago and now have a...

If you had it to do over again Konica 8000 vs ?

Our experience was different in that KM (with whom we deal direct and not via a dealer) put their hands up to the C8000 problems and made us a good offer on its replacement by a C1085. That's been running well for 12 months now.

    Connecting 3 sheet NCR sets

Ask for "Fanapart adhesive", to distinguish it from the conventional padding adhesive that you would use to make NCR pads.

konica c1085 can't print on 350gr one side

This sounds possibly like an issue with the finishing settings. If the job is currently set for face down delivery, change to face up. Make sure the main output tray is selected. Command Workstation normally gives an error message for conflicts like these. What actually happens? We print 350gsm...

Can You Please Test – Colour or Mono Click?

I did run the files both through the CPSI workflow and through APPE on the C1085 and found no difference: 3 black, 1 colour. I would have expected the "crops in rego" also to have clicked colour on our old C8000, which had a similar spec fiery to yours.

Can You Please Test – Colour or Mono Click?

I've just tried these four files on our new Konica C1085 with the Fiery FS150 Pro (IC-310). Our standard colour setup is for Source to be Fogra39L (EFI), Full (output GCR); media-defined output profile. Grey & Black processing on for Text & Graphics. "Crops in Rego" clicks as colour, the other...

The mysterious 70% tint in Photoshop

As Dov indicated, it is impossible to have exactly 70% in an 8-bit image. There are 256 steps between 0% and 100%. Try this in Photoshop: Create a CMYK 8-bit image. Fill with 70% M Check with eyedropper - 69% as previously described. Now create another image, but this time CMYK 16-bit...

    facing pages indesign

Does it really matter? It's not something that we have ever worried about. Our imposition software (Quite) just picks up the trim box from the exported PDF and uses that to determine finished page size. This means that it doesn't matter whether an image on the left-hand side of the front cover...

    68 Page 5.5x8.5 Booklet

We get a lot of requests for thick booklets like these. This morning we have finished a batch of instruction manuals that are 96pp + cover. For this type of book, saddle-stitching has the advantage over perfect bound that the manual can be opened flat in the workshop. Because of this demand, we...

Multiples business cards with multiple backs

We do this quite frequently, but use Quite Imposing Plus. We would impose the fronts to make a single sheet. For 5 names we would make this 20-up, i.e. four instances of each of 5 names. Replicate this sheet to give a 12-page document. Step and repeat the backs 20-up; this also gives a 12-page...

Advice please on what printer / press to purchase

I would have thought that an OKI/Intec/Xante machine would fit the bill, bearing in mind your budget. Buying a larger machine second-hand could turn into a service nightmare, unless you have a good source of spares and a tame engineer. Alternatively, have you thought about talking to a local...

Can .jpg's print fancy text as sharp as a layered pdf?

In simple terms: text in a PDF is a vector element so will always output at the maximum resolution of the output device; text in a .jpg will output at the resolution of the image. So the quality of the .jpg text output is dependent on image resolution. In theory if the .jpg is high enough...

    Cracking on folds!

No matter what the toner, there is no real way of avoiding the need to crease. There's a lot of creasing equipment on the market now ranging from hand fed, hand operated, to fully automatic systems. We started out with a Morgana Docucreaser - hand fed, but power creasing, and surprisingly fast...

    Most Litho-like digital print?

I had a look at some 1100 output last week. It is less glossy than the 8000, but perhaps not quite as matt as KM have been trumpeting. By my guess, about the same as our old 6500. It looked good and perfectly saleable.
