    "Warning" warning? [Z6100ps]

I'm running into an error on the OSD while spooling a relatively large file which says nothing but "Warning" ... In some cases, the job proceeds to print fine and in others it will result in large amounts of wasted paper followed by a small postcript error (see insanely irritating image...

HP z6100 Banding issue only in the beginning of the print

Good Afternoon, Group! So it appears that this is a bit of an old post but describes, exactly, an issue we've been seeing. It seems slightly improved by a print head cleaning but returns quickly. Anyone else experiencing this?

    Time keeping software?

MIS integration would be ideal in this case but unfortunately our implementation is not complete enough to really work for my department. I found a free product a year ago by the name of LogMyTask. The interface can be a little clunky at times but it can handle everything I need... Multiple team...

    Calculate G7 curves with Excel

Nice Work! I look forward to experimenting with this tomorrow. I attempted to figure this out some time ago but found a harsh barrier within my lack of Excel skills. Cool stuff. If I recall correctly, SpotOn started as an excel spreadsheet as well...

Color bar for spot colors (an easy way?)

Good Morning! I've been experimenting with using DS_SPOT# swatches in color bars and I must say, I'm pleased. (Thanks Format!) However, Is there a way to prevent trueflow from rendering the spot's color as the color of the patch in the EPS during an OutlinedPDF output? Or perhaps a way to...

    Old Designjet Ink Heads

Thanks for the response. In all cases I've been replacing the cleaners with fresh new ones. I'm actually using an "out of the bag" cleaner with my old LiCyan head now and It's still showing the "Recover" indicator for the head. I'm waiting on some other sources to get back on a possible bypass...

    Old Designjet Ink Heads

We've got a beater 5500ps used for nothing more than over the counter photo printing other non-critical work. I recently attempted to replace an ink head and the machine rejected it. Looking into it a little further I found that all of my ink heads expired in Feb '09. So long story short, is...

    Another one bites the dust!

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind- I'm a bit surprised we don't have one laying around somewhere. Ebay looks to be a good source...

    Another one bites the dust!

Thanks for the great input, Everyone. I've got some things to stew on. So if Aurora is dongle protected then what are my chances I'll be able to find some install files floating around on the internet? I can't seem to find much of an official web presence at all. Who makes (made?) Aurora for...

    Another one bites the dust!

We had our usual "once a year" drum scan job come through and my old OS9/G3 machine finally died on me. I'm exploring my options as far as replacing it and I would imagine there's some experience out there with such topics. Our previous set up was as follows: Howtek 4500, Aurora, and the above...

Why is InDesign SO much better than Quark?

That explains what I was seeing perfectly! Now I haven't really seen the white spreading issue on Quark PDF's produced with distiller- Is that something weeded out by distiller but not JAWs?

Why is InDesign SO much better than Quark?

Exactly the kind of information I was looking for. Thanks Guys.

Why is InDesign SO much better than Quark?

Thanks for the reply. Our standard practice for quark files in-house is to use distiller which does works fantastically. I guess this is the sort of thing that stands to remind me why we do that. Out of curiosity, what is the difference between JAWs and distiller?

Why is InDesign SO much better than Quark?

We just spent 3 hours trying to troubleshoot a trapping issue on a Quark PDF. Upon importing into Trueflow images were generating white outlines and nothing was functioning like it should. After much head banging and as a last resort- each page of the PDF was placed into InDesign and exported as...

Color bar for spot colors (an easy way?)

Woah! Thanks for the responses- I hadn't received any notification so I'm rather pleased to stumble back on my thread. The use of Dynamic Wedge on press sounds really cool but unfortunately I don't currently run XF. On the other method... Indeed, I am using TF and I intend to begin some testing...

    Problem with PSDs?

Quite a few issues regarding trapping with transparencies (and the time it takes to do so) were recently addressed in some updates. It seems like they were only released for TF5.01 and 6 though. Did the PDF/X-1a file import and trap properly? You could always apply some JPEG compression at that...

Color bar for spot colors (an easy way?)

I just received a tricky request from the pressroom. They'd like color representation for all spot color work. For the most part our work is strictly process OR spot... vary rarely a mix of the two. All of our impositions are built with a CMYYK+50% grey balance swatches. As far as I can tell...

    Problem with PSDs?

It sounds like everything's worked out for you now but I'm still curious. Had you tried overprint loading during import? I had a tricky flatting issue this morning, and pushing the client supplied PDF through ID with the Trueflow PDF/X-1a preset fixed everything up nicely.
