Depends on the size of the shop and the purpose of the discussion. At a small shop I worked at early in my career, I would answer the door, the phone, and communicate with clients as a pre-press person...heck, even run the digital presses. At a larger shop I was at, the pre-press people rarely interacted directly with a client unless it's to talk with their designer and explain how to properly send over the file(s).Are Prepress people supposed to interact with the client?
You're assuming that the fellow speaking to the customer isn't a CSR. Some workflows let CSRs see a job's progress through the system. Are Prepress people supposed to interact with the client?
I'm thinking that should be the job of either the CSR or the Salesperson.
In the spirit of Halloween........ BOOOOOO!.............. and so prepress needs to take on that role.
