Click charge on refurbished Xerox 240

Hi,

I'm on the verge of buying a refurbished Xerox 240, we've been quoted 0.085p black and white and 6.9p colour. Does this seem a bit expensive?

I'm thinking it may be cheaper to get a more expensive machine with a lower click charge.

Any suggestions?

Doesn't seem too bad for a 240 (I assume you are in the UK?). We have a refurb'ed DC250 (got it about 2 years ago) and are on 6p for colour and 0.7p for black. Our DC12 however is on 9p for colour and 1p for black. Is there no room for negotiation that click rate down a fraction? I know there are deals on the new DC550's for 3p per click, but I have also heard that you need to be very careful on these deals, as they will not be so keen to supply consumables if they do not feel you are getting the recommended life from them. I know I never get anywhere near the full life from my 250 fusers before they get marked and need to be replaced. Xerox are not keen, but they do supply them after some haggling! I have heard stories of people with the 3p deals however being charged for new fusers if they need replacing early even if they are on click. Just read the contract several times if you decide to go this route! Personally, I am very happy with my 250 and have no intention of replacing it any time soon.

Simon.

Hi, it does not seem to be bad at all. We had a 7760 phaser under no commitment contract 12p color and 2p b/w. The way you can negotiate better price is to make a commitment like, say, 10,000 pages per month...
