Cropping Images

Hi All,

I'm trying to create an action-set that detects images too close to the gutter, then crops anything within that region (0.3125).

Little more background...
  • Creating in Pitstop 12 single user
  • This action will be used on Pitstop Sever 13 for automation
  • PDF is generated by BookMaker
  • 1 Color
  • Images are full coverage

Any help, or direction would be grateful.

Thank you,
Felipe

HI Felipe

do you have a sample file you can post so we can look at the situation?
you can always mail me on [email protected] if you can't post it.

From your description this should be pretty straightforward but I would like to see a sample file to find the best way to do it.

Hi ABC,

Here is the sample file Iv'e been using in my failed attempts.

Can you setup an example page and “crop box” in InDesign or Illustrator so that I can visualise where you need the “crop” (mask). Does it change position between facing left or right pages?

Hi Stephen,

I created a PDF with callouts. To answer your question, yes any image that sits on the inside gutter "verso and recto."

Also, I can move items that are close to the spine, but that would send the entire image and text out of the trim box–frustrating.
The tuff part for me is how to get pitstop to distinguish, image and text.

Thank you for all your help!

Felipe
