Debossing Foiling troubles

Many times we are required to do debossing or foiling on book covers. I shall focus here on debossing.
While debossing especially on PU covered hard case book covers we are not getting good results especially where patches are involved. Sometimes we directly do on unpasted covers. The images are not uniform. Also the burning on color changing PU is not uniform. Results are uneven like cloud or wave effect within solid patches.
We use cnc engraved dies.
I read on the internet that sometimes there is gassing effect, air trapped inside. And, one can try dome Make-Ready to allow air to escape. Anyone, knowing what it is and how to do that? Also, what other issues or factors may be involved?

I will delete and look for possible correct forum. Perhaps post press or packaging.
Edit- somehow couldn't find delete option, found edit option though. May be admin can delete
