Digital Decal Estimating

Can anyone recommend software for estimating digital decals on print and cut digital machines such as Mimaki or Roland print and cut!

Any input greatly appreciated.

Estimating decals/labels for example a 6"x4" label with a die cut (contour cut).

What I am looking for is if there is estimating software that would give me price for as an example printing of 150 decals 6" x 4" with a contour cut printed on white vinyl.

Do you currently have an MIS or estimating software? If not this is simple enough that just a excel spreadsheet would do.

First find out how long it takes your printer to print/cut a linear foot. Probably around 3-4 minutes if it is a solvent printer. Next figure out the budget hour for the printer. Lets say $50 an hour for this example. You now know that the printer costs you about $3 a linear foot to run/cut.

Now get your material cost, media $1.00/linear foot ink $1.00(full coverage)/linear foot. Your inclusive cost is now $5 a linear foot to print/cut. Now figure out how many linear feet you need to print. 6x4 you can get about 16-up on a 54"x12" area. $5/16 = $.31 per piece.

Tack on how much margin you want and there you go. If all you are doing is estimating cost/price for decals I don't see a reason to invest in software.

Setting up a spread sheet that enable one to estimate is fairly easy - but if you really want to compare different set up and press run approaches, predict need sheets and makeready, then - convert that into a PDF and email it to the customer, and then - enable that customer to approve the quote online - well, you need more than an excel spread sheet.

How many colors ? Are they spot of process ? How big is the parent sheet of that vinyl ? what is the cost of that vinyl ? how much bleed ? Is this really 6x4, or can you nest ? Is the die already made, or are you quoting creating that die ?

You need to quote tax, shipping and handling ?
