DUPLO 618 Creaser Spring damaged - creasing only halfway

I have a creaser spring that looks warped and bent on the non operator side of our Duplo 618 and its now only creasing halfway. I have no idea how that happened. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this or if anything can be done? Thanks

I wouldn't use the creaser function until you remove and either straighten the spring or replace it. There are pins on both ends on the bottom of the male creaser that need to line up with the center of the spring when the male creaser is inserted into the creasing section. If the pin does not line up with the opening on the spring it will slip and bend.

Try to straighten the spring so you can place the male creaser back with the pin lining up with the opening of the spring. You could take the spring out and take it to a good hardware store and try to match it up. In case you need a new spring the Duplo part number for the spring is P9-K1631.

Thanks for that very helpful response. I havent been able to find a place to order parts from. I thought you had to be an authorized dealer. i have a service guy coming out to fix it, but in the back of my mind am thinking if there is some way for me to fix it

Thanks

Just had this exact same thing happen to our 618. I wonder what causes it.

I took the spring out, put it on a pair of vice grips, and fought it til it was "mostly" bent back into shape. Still not perfect, but we can at least crease now. Our dealier is out of town for at least a week, so we'd be down otherwise.

Down towards the end of the page you'll see the part number $13.43 - Duplo Spring.

This site refuses to load for me. I found a 99W-20200 part number on another site. Is that the part number you were referencing? I want to buy like 20 of them for future hoarding/replacement purposes.

I can't get the site to load now either. The part number that Duplo has listed for the spring is P9-K1631. I found the 99W-20200 and it sure looks like the same spring. Godar has it listed with their after market parts, so maybe it's the same spring. Can't go wrong for what they have it listed for.
