Envelopes on the Canon ImagePress C750

Hey everyone!

I manage Envelope Production at our PrintShop in Indiana.

Over the last few years, 98% of our output comes from our iJetColor 1175 P, which has been game changing. (Ive been wanting to separetly review this machine and our experience, as we had a bad first inkjet experience with RISO, and upon entering contract with Printware I put their product under alot of scrutinity-- but I've found them to under promise and over deliver. Once you go iJet you'll never go back.

Out of the thousands of jobs we run, I have about 4 that are just not a good fit for the iJet. Printware has tested these files themselves and have been very upfront about that.

I still have one of my 3 Xante Impressia's hooked up, which I find isn't worth the energy exertion to flip the on switch.

Our big presses are Canon-- we run two 10,000 units and an 8000. We also still have our older C750 and Oce Varioprint.

I've thrown a job here or there on our Canon Imagepress C750. We have the Multi-Drawer Paper Deck C1 attachment, so we cannot use the Pod Lite Ennvelope feeder, or the B1 Stack Bypass.

This leaves me running envelopes from the tiny paper drawers-- or getting them to actually pull from the C1 Deck.

Has anyone had success getting them to pull from the C1 Deck that has Air Seperation and Assist? Note I am running larger than an ISO-C5, with most envelopes I put on this machine being a 9x12 or 10x13 Catalog with heavy full sheet coverage. (Think those picture packets sent home from schools-- catalog envelope order form with full image background and several high quality picture examples on the front to show background options.)

Just exploring any better option than the way I'm running. Doing runs of 2500, 5000 or 10,000 in the small paper drawers 50 envelopes at a time is rough.

I've heard of there being a Stack Bypass B1 unit that is mountable, going next to the scan bed and usable with the C1 Deck. Our Tech said buying new components for this is unlikely with how old it is.

With our config of our C750, am I pretty limted to what were already doing?

my c750 has a POD deck lite XL and runs envelopes wonderfully. by the looks of the multi drawer c1 I would think the middle drawer would feed envelopes well. good luck

I really wish we could use the POD Deck Lite! Since we have the C1 Multi Drawer unit attached, per my understanding, we cannot use the POD Deck or the B1 Stack Bypass, as the C1 Deck and POD Deck are not user swappable.

I thought the same about the middle drawer on the C1 Deck, as its a straight feed into the B1 section. The more I dig into things and look at the settings when trying to set the paper tray, it looks like the C1 Deck can only do an ISO-C5 envelope and smaller (oddly, not even a standard US size envelope). I have to trick the printer into thinking its not an envelope and also have to turn off the Duplicate Sheet detection, but that settings is currently locked on our unit, so ill have to wait until our tech is in next.

I'm now finding out even with the C1 deck, I can only load about 50 envelopes at a time anyway. With those drawers, you have to push a button, it takes a minute to fully lower the stack and then it opens. I can load 50 envelopes in the small paper drawers and can open them instantly without wait, so it may be the small paper drawers are actually faster in this case. :/

I was really hopefully I could get a top-mounted B1 Stack Bypass added, but am being told the machine is too old to order add-ons like this.
