Epson 9900 & Apogee 8

We just installed the 9900 and can print direct with no problems, but outputting color proofs thru Prepress 8 is not working very well. The proofs are printing VERY slow and coming out with a screen tint. What are we missing?

I have the 9900 with APX 7.1 here. APX will handle proofing the way you set it to. Basically, you set the proofer profile (you need to profile your proofer first using the APX Color tools-and prior to profiling, you should perform a proofer calibration with APX QMS) in the 10p Epson9900 TP and the simulation profile (the printing condition you want to match - such as GracolC1) in the Generic Press TP. I suggest you contact your Agfa support or go to https://community.apogee.agfa.net/

Questions:

1. What kind of proofs are you generating? Contract color or digital dylux?
2. Are you using uni-directional or bi-directional printing?
3. What resolution? 720? 1440?
4. Which Quality setting, Ink Table, and Proofer Profile are you using?
5. How long would it typically take your 9900 to print a single 8.5 x 11?
6. Are you printing directly via TCP/IP or using a Windows Spooler?

As for the screen tint, does the tint appear as a background flood everywhere? If so, this might stem from using Absolute Colorimetric rendering intent. Try switching to Relative Colorimetric.

Best regards,
