Flaring on a Heidelberg CX102

Does anyone know any tricks for Flaring on the 2cnd pass on a Sheetfed Heidelberg CX102 that has just the feeder tape and no wheels on the feeder board? On the older SM 102 you could tape a half inch bar on the feeder board under the tapes half way up the sheet and it would help greatly with with the black Flaring out on the tail on the 2cnd pass, if you are running KCMY. I know they have software for Flaring but we are a small company. At times I wish I was running a older press Heidelberg! lol

Are you trying to register fit 1st pass to 2nd pass same side or is 2nd pass backside not register fitting to itself?
If it's a 5/c, can you use 1st unit under impression to flatten out paper?
Is paper grain long?
Is paper flat or is it wavy edged (outer length is longer than center)?

2cnd pass the black is flaring out about a 16th or 2mm on the tail . It's a 6 color we have the 1st unit on impression. I think some of it is our pressroom isn't climate controlled. The longer the run the worse it seems. We are to lazy to wrap the skids and that would be a pain in the ass.

Well.....you know the importance of temperature and humidity controlled press room (even over the weekend) and keeping paper barrier wrapped until after temperature conditioned and between passes.
Just curious, if you fold the outer edge of wave edge sheet to the center, how much longer is the outer edge? 1/32", 1/64"?
Some presses have option to concave bow the gripper edge to allow that extra paper to move inward instead of outward (Fanout)!

If you’re only dusting with the 1st unit, mount a plate there and only turn your dampener(s) on, to imitate actual printing …. it should help to flare out the sheet before the 2nd unit, where the black then goes down and the 4/c process begins. Believe it, or not!

Yes we do wrap skids if they are going to sit for hours or a shift. I would have to check on if the paper is wider or not. Our press will bow the the headstops.

You know I think I have heard that years ago. I don't think I have tried it. Maybe I should have. What do you run your water speed at? Normal or a little lower or?

"Blanking" or "Dusting" applies pressure between paper on impression cylinder and blanket. Dry dusting uses no dampening solution, wet dusting uses a plate, no inking, and applies dampening fountain solution. I'm wondering of applying water will make it even worse? Still curious about outer edge length (should be longer if wavy edged) compared to middle sheet length.

Today I didn't have that bad of a flare outward on the tail with the black. I will check to see if the sheet is wider there.
