Hairlines on output

Hi, I'm curious to know what artefacts people are experiencing with their Fiery RIPS on docu colors. I'm running a 260 and a 250, and the weirdest one I've seen is small hairlines extending along past the edge of postscript objects, has anyone else ever seen this? The engineers are stumped and so am I as to what causes it, although I think it might be arcanely linked to using Line Screen!

whatever you are printing, make sure it is flattened CORRECTLY. again, the key work is CORRECTLY. I'm not an expert on this, but I see Xerox Systems Analyst making small corrections in the designs that produce HUGE difference in the output; especially when there are transaparencies and layers.

it's like creating a PDF, a lot of people think they can create a PDF with a couple of clicks, but have you seen how many options and features are in the PDF writer dirver?

there's a book called JOB PREPARATION GUIDE FOR DESIGNERS, which I think is very simple to understand. there are many others at :

Xerox Store - Agency and Design Resources

make sure you have log # with Xerox Support about the issue. it will be escalated all the way up to EFI/Fiery Enginners if needed to find a solution.

Hi rflores, yeah bad quality artwork gives me a good few headaches in here. A lot of our customers just aren't interested in making their jobs print better, and especially not in making my life easier! It's a very odd and intermittent problem, seems to happen most often with pdfs that have been heavily scaled. I've managed to capture a couple of raster files on the server [print&hold] so once I've got a few they'll take 'em away and have a look at them.

What job do you do rflores? Do you run digital presses as well?

(I'm a Product Specialist in Sales & Marketing for a Xerox Authorized Sales Agent. I do work in the Graphics Arts market a lot, and I'm involved in many technical issues as well)

Hey che.c...... It sounds like a trapping issue almost, am I wrong in thinking that?? maybe its trying to trap an image and making a hard bounding box???

Is there way to see maybe a scan of the sheet so we can see what this looks like?

Hi, sorry didn't get back sooner, things have been hectic here! It turns out it was something related to tray alignment apparently, the engineer was in with a software upgrade and pointed me towards a couple of patches. It seems to be resolved now, but I'll just have to wait and see.

Hmm, I'm not sure what's caused it at all, I'll put a scan up of it later on today - be interested to see if anyone else has come across this before, the engineers certainly hadnt!
