Hi i have 10 years Experience in pre-press(stong knowledge), printing quality(average knowledge ), and IT(good knowledge), presently working as pre-press support engineer and receiving salary $3,000(after all tax deduction). And planning to immigrate to Canada or Similar countries for better growth and future
Can u please clarify 2 things.
1. Is it right decision to immigrate canada in newspaper and pre-press field in this time.
2. Canadian immigration application will takes more than 4 years, and if i had job offer from canada its very easy and takes less than 2 months. How i can get a job offer from employers in canada. is it possible.
please give ur kind advice

Not sure if the Newspaper industry is a long term employment opportunity in Canada. I think to emmigrate to Canada you would need a job and a sponsor. To get a job you would probably have to send off your resume to as many companys as you can then go to Canada for a vacation after having lined up a whole bunch of interviews. Nobody I know would hire someone that has not gone through formal face to face interviews/reference checks. The sponsor would have be a close relative that already lives in Canada. I think thats how it works. Your paricular field of expertise has to be on Canada's list of wanted professions or you may be out of luck.

1. Daily newspapers are having a difficult time in N America. Readership is significantly down. However, the ones that are doing better are the local weekly community newspapers (like Black Press - http://www.blackpress.ca/ ) since they include advertising flyers and inserts. Prepress job opportunities are fewer and fewer every day primarily because of automation of the process.

2. I would start by determining where you want to move to. Canada is a very large country and conditions are very different in, for example, the west coast compared to the east coast.

The main Canadian Government site for immigration is here:*http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp

There is a very large Indo-Canadian population in Vancouver due to its similarity (climate and mountains) with the Punjab. But Vancouver is a very expensive place to live in (rent for one month for a 1 bedroom apartment if you can find one can easily be $1200). The community is mostly concentrated in the suburban city of Surrey (http://www.surrey.ca/). I think there is also an Indo-Canadian concentration in Toronto and Montreal.
I would start by trying to make contact with the local community, since, like most immigrant groups, Indo-Canadians tend to try and help fellow expats.
Maybe try and contact the local newspaper http://www.southasianpost.com/ and http://www.diversityreporter.com/ You might also try and contact Indo-Canadian community centers through the local Gurdwaras and Hindu Temples (e.g. http://hindutempleburnaby.com/ for help and advice.
Lastly, most of the taxi drivers in Vancouver and Victoria are Indo-Canadian. I don't know but this suggests that there maybe a network of help that they are involved with. http://www.yellowcabonline.com/ and http://btccabs.ca/

best, gordo

As a side point, work visas (for up to 3 year periods) are actually relatively easy to obtain for anyone from a country of the former commonwealth. If you aren't sure how long term you are planning to stay (or the job market is uncertain for you) it is a viable option...

Also, do you qualify for a passport in other countries? (i.e. you have right to citizenship in another land) If you do, find out if the legal requirements for immigrating from that country to Canada is easier, and obtain the passport. (I have a friend who found out he qualified for an Italian passport, which significantly changed the ease with which he was able to come into canada from Brazil)

Chinese immigrate to Canada more difficult~One of my senior shcool classmate has got a green card of canada, another chinese girl request marry to him, after that girl get a legal identity in Canada, they can divorce, and my classmate can earn about 500,000RMB~~Only for an identity~
this world is crazy!
