Ink calculations from PDF of a spot color label

I am interested in learning how one calculates how much ink is required for spot color labels - I assume this is done using software to analyse the PDF art and then multiply that by the run quantity. What software is available and how do you like what you are using ?

with enfocus pitstop you have the option to report the amount of ink involved in a pdf in mm2 and %.
