Ink problem?

Hi folks, came across a problem last week on the 105XL CD I was running, after about 20,000 impressions the cyan ink began to strip off the rubber rollers and build up on the rislans in a strip about 6 inches wide, just off to the OS, tried running less water but that made no difference, neither did slowing the press down, even tried washing up and changing the ink, but nothing worked, as soon all the rollers lifted off the plate, the ink redistributed back throughout the train.
We run alcohol sub, and use sun inks, the stock was 100lb gloss cover...anyone got any ideas??

Sounds like a simple glaze problem or it could use a calcium rinse.

Use some Febo Clean overnight and then use a good Alkaline Roller Rinse as part of your washup.

You might also want to check the nip of your form rollers.

Good Luck,
Dave

Sounds like rollers came out of adjustment. Or something is causing your riders to hang up when it goes on impression.

In a quart bottle, mix your roller wash 50/50 in water. Next shake it and see if it foams, similar to what you would see if you did the same test with dish detergent. If it does foam, thoroughly flush your rollers with warm water to remove the residual soap.

If you are going to use a deep cleaning paste, use one that does not contain talc/calcium. Believe it or not most roller pastes use talc as an ingredient which is actually introducing more calcium to your rollers.

Hello Madjock,
This problem looks similar to a problem we had in our newspaper presses. My intution is it is a problem with the ink itself. It may be that there is an emulsion breakdown in the ink . It may be caused by faulty tack-stability of the inks. give the ink manufacturer the inks to do a tack stability tet in their lab.
