Hi,
We are recently going for a heidelberg pre-press interface on our machine and using cip3 to boost our production in terms of reducing make ready times and paper wastage. Getting into color we are planning to go in the next stage. Could anybody recommend what all hardwares and softwares will be required to complete the process. For E.g. A densitometer is required but will a spectrophotometer also be required in the initial stage.
How do i go about it, since we are new and we dont want heavily invest in everthing in one go and only one step at a time till and as we get comfortable

CIP/3 presetting

CIP/3 presetting

Hello Ashwini:

If you are looking to keep costs down then you need to investigate the LithoTel ColorLinx PreSet system.

It uses CIP/3 file data from pre press.

LithoTel supplies the CIP/3 file parsing software and the press side PreSet application software along with trhe press interface module.

The entire system comes in for less than $20K turn key in the GTA and it works great. On the upside, the system can be upgraded to accept the new X-Rite IntelliTrax scanner to incorporate closed loop colour control at a later date.

LithoTel has been in the business for the past 20 years so their products are solid.

Like the bank commercial says; "It's worth a talk."

I was hoping you can help me source the install CD. I am looking for an install CD for Lithotel software - Platinmum edition 7.2.4. Lithotel is no longer in business and our computer is giving issues but dont have an install CD.

Image Control is a great tool but it is not the same as Instant Gate. Image control is basically a full press sheet scanning spectrophotometer that runs about $200K. Instant Gate is the software that allows Prepress Interface to connect directly and work with the press console without using a flash card. When Heidelberg comes in to install Prepress Interface, they will bring all the tools to get it set up. You just have to be sure that your prepress workflow (RIP) has the option of sending at least CIP3 data to Prepress Interface which will then break the PPF down to the width of each ink key and set the openings for those keys based on the density of the PPF of the particular image you are going to print. Very slick and reliable.

Color Key Pro provides an integrated and full solution for CIP3/4 (not necessary, 1bit TIFF output is enough), automatic ink key presetting, one-touch inking upload to all type of presses with console of any age with enhanced connection via our electronic interface, scan and spot measurement features, reference and colorbar editing (unlimited), closed loop correction, self-learning process calibration for controlling dot gain, ductor, ink key opening and correction curves. Modular system, so the main modules are separately available. An automatic ink key presetting runs about $13K. The extremly clear and easy-to-use GUI is used on a touch-screen display. X-Rite and Techkon measurement devices can be connected, without the need of their's measurement software, as ColorKeyPro drives them directly.
