We have a weekly magazine job.And the title of this magazine ofter should use fluorescence ink to print.
For this magazine is printing by several company,so our custom want us to achieve certain Lab value of this cover pantone spot color.
But the control of this kind of fluorescence ink is so difficult. The lab value changed when the ink dried. But our custom require the delta E of this spot color less than 3.
During press run, this is difficult for us to control the delta value in 3,and we can`t find any regular things betweenn the ink dry and wet.So we can`t promise when the ink dry wether the delta E can satisfy our customer.
Any one knows the solution of this kind of ink?
Thanks~~

dayglow inks

dayglow inks

ive found dayglow inks to be very hard to print up to full strenghth of the pms book in a single hit. to get dayglow to run consistent with the book my feeling is that you either need a double hit or ill cheat and use a regular pantone mixing ink to help it along. for example if the job calls for 803 and im tryin to do it with a single hit i will mix in about 25 percent of pantone 012. if im looking to run 805 as a single hit ill mix in about 25 percent of pantone 032 pms806 and 807 ill help along with a little rhodamine red. of course you loose a little of the dayglow effect but at least you can come close to matching the color without running so much in on your rollers that you can hear the hissing over the sound of the press. if an extra printing unit is available then a double hit would be prefered.

We have tried Sun, INX and Hostmann fluorescence down here with very little trouble on wet vs. dry. Of course most of the time when we use these inks we coated with aq from CnA. What level of fluorescence are you using?
