KM AccurioPress IQ unit

Hi

Hoping someone may be able to help with an issue on a KM 2070 we have just acquired. I know it's an old machine, but we've added it to allow us to run silk coated paper without going through 2nd BTR's on our Xerox machines (we are not on a contract with any machines). It's configured with the IQ unit, but that part is just causing us daily problems. Spots found on scanner 2, which we cannot clear, or if we do it comes back almost straight away. My question is, is it possible to run this machine without the IQ unit, as that is the only part causing us issues. I know the IQ unit is an expensive upgrade, but at the moment it's making the machine unusable. Our engineer (not KM experienced) has said from what he can see, due to cabling requirements, the IQ unit cannot be removed as the cables have no where else to connect to? Anyone have any guidance on either removing the IQ unit or how to get the scanner to stop seeing spots!!!

We also have had issues with the spot detection on sensor 2, if wiping the glass doesn't work you will have to take it out and remove the glass and wipe the underside of the glass and the refraction glass that's down inside the sensor 2 unit we also put some seals on the edges of the glass to stop paper dust from getting in there.

you can do it that way to wipe the front of the glass by hand but if you have to remove the glass from sensor 2 you have to remove the unit from the machine and flip it upside down and disassemble it. the glass will have double sided tape sealing it in and we used a heat gun to loosen it up and lift it off.

Yes. We mostly just use it to get the paper into perfect front-back alignment before running jobs, then turn it off. You do this in the controller in the quality control setting tab. Your controller settings seem to be defaulted to check for the color consistency and image adjustment on every sheet. You can simply turn that off, or tell it to just check periodically. We tell it to only check the front/back alignment periodically (which I think is every 100 sheets).

We get those sensor issues sometimes too. Usually, we can clear it ourselves by using the cleaning wand they supply (it's stored in the door). However, for stubborn issues, we have to call a tech - you can't really access it on your own without taking it apart too much.

We had a KM machine with this, and the wand is only effective at pushing dirt around. You have to take it apart to actually clean it. I don’t have the steps as it was a tech call for us. If you’re planning to run without a contract it’s probably best to disable the feature as it’ll drive you crazy, at least it did me.

I had the IQ on my 6100, i think is awesome machine that helps a lot with color and alignment.
If you want to shut down the IQ for run you can go to DIPSW and press - 60-1 OFF 60-2 OFF and 60-3 OFF.
If this isn't working ask the tech's what is the DIPSW for the IQ, in the 6100 is 60's.

To clean the glass completely you need to actual remove the scanner from the machine, remove the glass and clean it and after it attach them back, this is what i did every time it got "spots".
To remove the scanners is not that hard, just remove the panels from the back and disconnect the scanners, after that open the doors and remove the upper plastic and it will revile screws, just remove them and you have one out, same for the other.
