Any thoughts on these 2 printers, KM C4065 vs Xerox PrimeLink C9200, how do they compare?
Which one would you pick for a volume of around 20k per month ?
The pricing is almost identical.

Thanks.

I would say that the Konica is a beefier machine designed to do production level printing whereas the Primelinks are essentially glorified office machines.

One thing to be mindful of is I believe the Konica will have different power requirements than the primelink. We needed a 32amp supply for our KM whereas the Primelink just uses regular outlets.

Something seems strange, you're either getting a bargain on the KM or being ripped off with the Xerox. Have Xerox offered any pricing on the V280 (would need 32amp)?

Thanks for the feedback.

On paper the Xerox PLC9200 is better with its higher specs, it uses the same toner as Iredess, LED technology, compact body, officialy supports 400gsm, the speed is the same as KM.

The 32Amp supply is not an issue. Also, Primelink uses less power which means lower electricity bills.

Despite all of the above the KM still seems a more robust machine.

I think the 9200 series is interesting and could be a nice light production machine. Look at the speeds for various stock weights and stock type to compare the KM and Xerox. It could help you in one direction or the other. It’s a bit odd that the Xerox slows down more on uncoated heavier stock. There are some nice features on the 9200, just not sure if it’s as robust as the KM.

so that C9200 looks very different inside vs. the "old primeLinks" from an open house---a different generation. I could see the iridesse pieces and spec shows it is wider that prior and 10-60K a month. However, it looks like it slows on papers--but at 20K month, that may or may not matter for your situation

Since pricing on the machine is nearly identical, and the specs are very similar between the two, there would be 3 other items I'd consider:

  1. The service contract: What is the click rate offered by each, and are both offering a "single-click" contract so you pay the same regardless of paper size? How many years is it locked for?
  2. Service support: Do you currently have either brand and how is their service? Are you closer to a service branch for one or the other? Which one has more techs to support your territory?
  3. Quality: How do you like the quality between the two? These days, most machines have a great output, but some are glossier or more matte than others. Some do better with solids, small reverse type, and smoother gradients than others. Find some of your more challenging files, pack up some of your more unique media, then go do a demo on each one. Don't rely on their perfectly calibrated demo room files and paper.
