Anyone know the ballpark cost of Kodak Proofing Software for Matchprint Inkjet 8.4?

Ask your Kodak Rep. Prices are quite fluid depending on what other equipment/software/plates/maintenance agreement you agree to purchase.
However, if I remember correctly we paid about $AU5,000 for KPS 4.0 back in the dark ages.

We just switched from KPS to Fiery and the benefits were so worth the extra cost. I would investigate both.

I have had issues with the Fiery rip on our Ricoh press rendering traps from Prinergy incorrectly, you need to be careful proofing through a different rip.
