Lacie calibrator

I have a client who has several Lacie monitors, and a Lacie colorimeter. He is looking at a variety of monitors, and asked if I knew if he can use his colorimeter even if he goes with other brand of monitor (eg an Apple 30"). What I can read from Lacie's www it seems that should be possible, but wanted to ask if anyone has tested that calibration with non lacie monitors.
Anyone?

I've used Blueye calibrators on various CRT and LCD monitors successfully, with better results on macs - it comes up with a monitor profile applied at the operating system level, whereas the hardware calibration of LaCie monitors comes to saving the LUTs inside the monitors eproms: a calibrated LaCie will be calibrated even if moved on a different computer later on. There are other benefits of hardware calibration, like taking advantage of the full 10-bit gamma addressing inside the monitor etc.
