"Less than" digital color management question

I call it "less than" because I'm sure you'll probably respond by saying "why would you do it?" but I'm just curious. I've been out of the loop on color management for 14 years now because my production manager/ former press technician did not see eye-to-eye on how to profile a press. My previous company went through the profiling process and it went great. Our HP5000 proofer was almost dead on and we had the Heidelberg CIP3 that saved a lot of time and waste. My question is this...that manager is no longer with us and we have a new owner with wide format HP Printers and a Xerox Digital printer (not a digital "press", just a fancy copier). I know from the past that if we profile the Komori, we can profile the wide-format but can you profile a copier? Also, what possibly could we be looking for cost-wise to profile equipment now? If it sounds stupid, I can take it!
