MBO Folder problem

We have an 11X17 folding job that gets folded down to 4.25X2.75 folding and scoring on the first unit then folding on the right angle unit. We are having trouble getting the right angle unit to fold consistently without jamming. We have tried tweaking the scores and fold gates to agree and roller pressure settings with varying degrees of success but unable to get it running well in spite of the fact that we have folded many thousands successfully in the past. It just suddenly started messing up in the middle of a good run.

Do you think it could be a bad carton of paper? That's a crazy fold, are you running 16# or 20# for that?

Could some of the paper have been cut with a different grain direction? That would play hell with that fold.

It's 20#. We've been doing for a long time with success using both long and short grain. We use 11X17 for short runs on the Ryobi duplicator and 17 1/2X22 1/2 on the large format perfector. I folded several cases fine and then the wheels fell off!

It definitely pushes the limitations of the folder but we've had good success up to now.
