Minimum width of color bar

Hi All,
We are using pressSIGN software to measures and control our printing process. However, the biggest issue we face most of the time is to fit a color bar into the paper size.
Sometimes, the page size ( for books) is high enough that it doesnt provide much room to place a color bar.
We are mostly using 60 x 90 / 64 x 90 / 70 x 100 sheet sizes.Most cases as the qtys are huge, we are not able to go to the higher size paper due to cost.
pls advice if we have any small size color bars / minimum size of color bar we shd use.

Depends on your measurement device, width of the color bar patches being a bit more critical than their height. Typical would be 6x6mm for a scanning spectro like an Intellitrax but it could be up to 12x12mm for something like an EyeOne Pro. Handheld densitometers/spectros, could be as small as 3x3mm depending on the aperture. Consult the manual of your instrument to see what the minimum patch size is.

Thank you Terry...We are using hand held eye one and not able to get proper results from anything less than 6mm.

i1 is terrible with small patches. I think that Intellitraxx can do patches close to 3mm and Techkon SpectroDrive should need around the same size, since the aperture is only 1,5 mm.

On the other hand, the larger the aperture the more accurate the result because the instrument averages a larger sample area, it's a trade off. I use 3 mm aperture instruments with good results.

Exactly Maxon, but on the other hand the original question was about how small patches can you have. Of course if you are able to have large patches it is better, but you very seldom have the space for large measurement patches on your sheets.
