Overprint issue coming out of InDesign 5.5 ...

I thought overprint issues had long ago disappeared until today. I have a solid 5th color printing over 4/c images & graphics coming out of ID 5.5 . If I generate the 5th color as a vector on another layer (overprint set of course) the 4/c layers all get heavier (dot percentage wise), both images and graphics. Now I stick an image in there and make it the 5th channel all is well. What the he__?

Has anyone come across this before? I would think the image would give issues before an ID generated rectangle could. This one has me a little puzzled and frustrated.

Check the Effects Palette, is anything other than Normal set for your 5th colour vector?

I'll do that when I get back to work (3pm). But that is exactly what it is doing, like multiply is on.
