Package Caught in a Mailing Vortex

A package mailed via USPS has traveled 24,000 miles en route to Singapore, but has not yet been delivered, nor has it left the USA.

A family from Toledo now lives halfway around the world in Singapore, but the dad is finishing his PhD in Ohio. He sent his family a care package but It never got to Singapore. It has traveled nearly 25,000 miles across America—through 13 states & 16 cities—but hasn't left the country.

The U.S. Postal Service’s statement reads: “We have been reaching out to Singapore contacts and are committed to locating this package. We apologize for not providing the service this customer expected. We will continue to pursue this matter.”

The family is standing by!

As near as I can tell, the USPS couldn't find a single one of its post offices using a military spec GPS, a map with the post office marked on it, and a dozen employees.
And you expect them to figure out how to ship a package to the far side of the world? Right. Like that will happen.

I'm finding it takes a week to get a single first class letter from the middle of the U.S to New Hampshire. Used to be USPS would stick everything on a plane and it'd cross the country and be delivered in 2-3 days. Now, in 2-3 days mail is about 3 zip codes away from where it was mailed.

Compared to the rest of the world we have cheap mail service. And we get what we pay for.
