PDF/X-6 compliance check in Acrobat Pro

Hello there,

does anyone know how I could remove the Document information dictionary and Document info fields other than modification date from a PDF file created in InDesign?

The PDF/X-6 compliance check in Preflight tool reports the following two issues:

I tried to find something relevant in the custom fixups menu, but nothing that would fix these issues.

Is it something I could fix in Acrobat Pro itself?

Thanks for your time.

Hi there early adopter! Why are you preflighting against PDF/X-6? I don't even think you can export a PDF/X-6 file from Indesign yet and I pretty sure no printers have adopted the standard yet.

and if you are trying to use PDF/X-6, why?
What do you see as the benefit over PDF/X-4?

Also find it interesting that you locked down your profile. Man of mystery... :)

Hello,

I’m using XMPie to generate VT-3 files, which should be based on X-6, yet it does not pass the check in Acrobat.

Oh, I was just curious about the Page Level Output Intent functionality of pdf 2.0 and the corresponding standard that supports it.

Interesting point, I have set it up that way after I created the account, never thought someone would find it interesting.
To reflect on this situation, the about page should be open to members from now on.

Simply stated, other than for Adobe's OEM print products, APPE (the Adobe PDF Print Engine) and AEPE (the Adobe Embedded Print engine), as a company, Adobe doesn't (yet) support PDF 2.0 or any derivative standards (PDF/X-6, PDF/VT-3, PDF/A-4) in either Acrobat or any of the Creative Cloud applications (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop). Acrobat does “open” such files, but effectively ignores any of the PDF 2.0-centric features such as page level output intents. Some third party plug-ins such as Callas pdfToolbox and Enfocus Pitstop do support PDF 2.0, PDF/X-6, etc. preflight and fixups, but they are not particularly useful if you don't have any mainline applications that generate these standards.

Why doesn't Adobe support PDF 2.0, PDF/X-6, etc. yet years after ISO approved the standards (I was part of that standardization process at the time)? You'd have to ask Adobe executives about that! Prior to my “exit” from Adobe in 2021, we had definitive plans for such support in Acrobat and the graphic arts applications. Apparently, AI gimmicks and applications that are print nightmares that don't support any PDF/X standards or ICC color management (such as Adobe Express) are more of an engineering priority than anything associated with print.

Well, it really did remove the Document information dictionary and Document info fields.
Unfortunately, it also removed all the other informations that would made the PDF file compliant to the X-6 standard.
Thanks for your time and the above suggestion.

Thanks Dov for the information on the state of things with X-6 standard. We have a PitStop license at work so I will check that out on monday.
Do you happen to know about any layout software that supports the X-6 standard with the features it brings to the table?
