Platemaker 5 - printing films dark enough for polymer plates

We are just setting up a Platemaker 5 at our University Art Department for polyester plates and films. Does anyone have suggestions for the correct settings to achieve flat black output for film? We have a polymer plate maker that we want to use the films for. In our first attempt with film, the black background for text was not dense enough.
Thanks.:)

I'm not sure that this will help you but it may be worth a shot.
Xante: FilmStar 4
I think these are out of production but I have seen used units go on ebay for next to nothing.
I have used Krylon Clear Acrylic to spray the toner side of film positives to make metal plates for offset and it works great for increasing toner density.

If its not far too late, Make sure you use myriad film with the platemaker only. Generic material will not give the same results. The film settings should be EP1- 1, fuser - 1, Neit -10. Laser setting isn't nessesary for film because the Neit settings take care of that. On printerdialog use the setting "film". Use filmstar FX solution and sufficient toner in your cartridge and you should get good dark opaques. My experience is using the platemaker 5 since 2007. Good luck
