Odd problem.
What makes you suspect Preps?
What RIP are you using?

I have the same question as James: why are suspecting this is a Preps problem? Are you sure the problem does not already exist in the input files to Preps?

Also, your attachments are scans of some sort. You should attach pdf files output directly from Preps. Are using a mixed files job, or a pdf to pdf job? is this on mac, or pc?

We need more information in order to help you.

We are mostly mixed
OSX 10.4 and 10.6, Preps 5.2 and 6.0 we are trying every option PDF to PDF and PDF to PS we can

Our RIPS are Fusion v4

onscreen all the fonts look perfect, we see the issue after the files are ripped. I can be reached at this number, i would greatly appreciate a call 347 470 0004

Odd. PrintPlanet didn't email me that you'd updated the thread.

Observations:
- you don't say what the original pre-Preps PDF looks like when you process it through Fusion. Again, what makes you think Preps is contributing to the problem?
- If you convert the PDF to PostScript using Acrobat, how does Fusion handle it?
- Point of reference: If you take the post-Preps PS and Distill it, the result looks good (to my eyes, anyways -- I might be looking at/for the wrong thing since the file you uploaded appears to be different than the screenshots). In any case, I don't see any unexpected italic mid-word, or squished words.


Also note that this isn't a support channel -- we're all here voluntarily. If you actually need support, you should call Support... based on the observations above, I'd suggest Support at Fusion.
