Prinect Alternative

Hey All,
Hopefully this is the right place to post this.
We currently run Heidelberg Prinect 2019 to impose and both Litho & Digital jobs.
However, we really do need to update as we cannot use the latest version of Creative Cloud etc and we cannot update our Macs and still run the Heidelberg software.
We have had a quote from Heidelberg and they now charge per plate we produce which seems crazy as the software is still expensive.
What is everybody else using?
We are looking at Studio RIP which is cheaper but will change our workflow and means we will have to use another imposition program for digital.
Any recommendations would be greatly received!
Thanks
Edward

The company i work for was in a similar dilema a few years back. We went from Prinect to Fujifilm's XMF. It's not perfect, but overall we like it better than Prinect. At the time it was cheaper to buy a full version of XMF than the upgrade for Prinect. We impose Litho and Digital in it.
Before we made the final decision, the Fuji rep sent us a technician that installed a 30 day full working version on one of our machines, and gave us an initial training, so we got to used it for a few days before deciding.

I use Agfa's Apogee Prepress workflow. The nice thing about Apogee is that imposition is built in. Apogee Impose is a brilliant feature and offers A LOT of functionality.

Best regards,
pd

Imposition Studio for Digital jobs. Quick and mostly painless. Also inexpensive.

Using a blue box Xitron shooter to our imagesetter from Kodak Prinergy.
Works a treat for that but they do have a COMPLETE front end which I have not tried.

We went with Prinergy because we could keep the 20+ years of Preps templates moving forward and it was a drop in replacement for Rampage.
YMMV

ECO3 Apogee (Former Agfa) is a really good workflow system, I also think you can buy Apogee as a cloud based solution (pay as you go).

For impose PDF the best way is PREPS 6 to 9

for RIP,
IS ONLY ONE USER, HARLEQUIN RIP IS THE BEST AND SYMPLE OPTION, They have several reseller companies
XITRON, COMPOSE, RTI RIP, HQRIP SCREEN, and others

IS TWO OR MORE USER NEED ONE WORKFLOW,
ONE SIMPLE AND NOT EXPENSIVE OPTION IS XMF FROM FUJI , small investment in hardware and scalable, better hardware works faster

Other NOT EXPENSIVE OPTION IS PRINERGY EVO FROM KODAK, moderate investment in hardware and scalable, better hardware works faster

AND APOGEE FROM AGFA, It is a good flow but requires a high investment in hardware and is quite scalable.

All these software work on a lot of hard disk reading and writing, therefore you have to put in fast reading and writing systems.
RAID arrangements of hopefully more than 1 disk 4 or 8 if possible.
to maximize performance and provide fault tolerance

Thankful to see these posts with success outside of Prinect. We have had nothing but problems with this system and looking at other options. I literally can't wait to jump ship.
