Print Consistency (and TVI)

Hi,

We use TVI for compensation and setting up print conditions to meet specific requirements. Taking into account all the variables printing has how consistently can the implemented TVI's be maintained considering that we use exactly the same raw materials for subsequent runs which were used while setting-up compensation TVI's?

Thanks

Tarun:
In the days of SWOP specifications, and dot proof verification sheets, a TVI range of +/- 2% was usually given. If you are a consultant, testing a brand new press for consistency, the TVI expectation might be shrunk to +/- 1% over a steady state run. This is measured sheet to sheet over 100 consecutive sheets. This is a possible target, but the +/-2% is more reasonable. More than that and there is a mechanical issue or ink and water feed is changing. Hope that helps, and that you have a scanning instrument!

John, can you clarify the +/- 2% term.

If the average dot gian is 20% would the range then be 18% to 22%? Is that what is meant by +/- 2%.

Thanks.
